No I haven't heard from my ex-employer since this morning.

He sent me an email saying that unless I show up for work (which is 10 miles away) then I had better not coming back ever. This was at 9.08am.! I haven't since.

I have also heard from my IP today. He says that he WILL NOT petition for bankruptcy if we fail our IVA. Phew!
He will email me back tomorrow with a more in depth comment but he needs to peruse my email in detail first.

I shall update you tomorrow.

Charlotte

Really sorry that you are having a pants time. I echo everything everyone has said including youself. Your family are the important thing not the debt.

Good luck and lets hope he peruses you e mail and realises what a bunch of unhelpful ******** they have been.

Hi Andrew

I only 'spoke' to Simon via email but he seems so nice.
First impressions count and he seems delightful!

I will call tomorrow as I am now in a position to start movement on the DMP.

Thanks
Charlotten

Well I can confirm he is a really nice guy but I could be accused of being a bit biased!

We'll look forward to hearing from you.

So here is what our IP said in his email -

Dear Charlotte,

I have just had a brief look at your case and we do not have to petition for your bankruptcy in the event of failure.

I will provide a fuller response to your email tomorrow when I have reviewed all the details,

Regards

Does this sound positive?
I think so.

Hopefully we can get this resolved. Fingers crossed. In the meantime I job hunting and Bristol is awash with jobs at the moment so I am sending out my CV!!

Unfortunately I have only just started. I was subject to 6 months probation and I have only been there a month.
He sent me another email saying that other staff members managed to get into work and I know for a fact that these people (the office is small) live about 10 minutes walk away or about 1/2 a mile from the City Centre whereas I live 10 miles away. I have few friends and family and they were all affected by the strike. I asked him if he expected me to fly to work!!

I'll find something else. Bristol is heaving with jobs at the moment. I shall keep you updated.

Oh tell me about it. I have not heard from my IP again and he said he would contact me tomorrow (ie today) and still nothing.
I was telling my sister that I wondered if he changed his mind and I can expect a nasty letter in the post tomorrow but she said I am being paranoid and we are not the only client he has!
She's probably right.

Well I am still job hunting. My husband knows and he is not happy but he knows it's not my fault.

I truly despise DFD. They are a horrible company. Horrible.

My god you poor thing. On top of everything else, you so don't need this right now. Can't comment on your place of work's policy, but don't they have proper procedures/policy's in place for dealing with dismissal? Not sure its legal in employment law for them to have done what theyv'e done - and via email! Am sure there are rules by law that any employer has to follow before they can just ''fire'' you. Who did he think he was? Alan Sugar?

Hi Wheezle and welcome to the Forum.

A DMP is a Debt Management programme where you negotiate with your creditors to pay off your debts at a manageable rate. You will pay all of the money back but over a much longer period of time. They don't always freeze interest and charges either when you do that.

Not necessarily over a longer period of time.

In more and more cases creditors are requiring that a DMP be trialled rather than an IVA where the debt could be repaid in less, the same, or a little more time than the usual IVA period.

As always it comes down to individual circumstances which is why the right advice in the first place is vital.
