Well!!! I have a date for my creditors meeting on 13th August, just heard via the telephone. My stomach is in absolute knots at the thought of it (mind you has been like that for weeks now) .

I am just praying that it will go through so that I can try and get some sense of normality back in my life!! I really do not want to go bankrupt and want to pay back as much as I can and am really hoping it is accepted. This is something I want to be able to put behind me as much as is possible and look forward to a debt free future.

Proposal is 29p in pound with total debt of approx. £26,000, am worried as one of my creditors holds 43% of my total debt with a second creditor who is apparently linked to my largest creditor holding 10% so it seems (if I am correct) that it fails or approves depending on how they vote on the day!!

Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your words of support everyone, iva squirrel, I was about to respond to you and then wondered if I should be mentioning names of my creditors etc on here, is that ok? (probably ending up paranoid now, as worry about everything these days, seem to find something new each day). Would rather keep creditor to myself at the moment as don't want anything to jeopardise chances of success.

Does that make sense or am I being completely paranoid?

Thanks Skippy

Am sat here with 1001 worries going through my mind!! Reasons for it not being approved are going through my mind but all my creditors I have held accounts with for considerable amounts of time so hopefully that will go in my favour, havn't taken on new creditors recently and acquired new credit, largest creditor is my bank and have been with them for well over ten years etc etc, why is it though that for all the positives you try and find those damn negative worries pop up too?

On the positive side am looking forward to not having to put my mobile on silent when out with family and friends to avoid receiving any embarrassing phone calls from creditors etc and looking forward to not coming home to loads of missed numbers and calls on home phone with no messages left!! Also to have my spare time not working spent not worrying about creditors, phone calls, letters, mail etc when I get home from work!!

I'm sure you'll be fine Dorset. I know what you mean though - I am one of nature's worriers and I always find something to worry about even now I am BR! My current worry is that I am going for an interview on Friday and I'm convinced the company will credit check me and find out I'm BR! Apparently they've never credit checked anyone before, but that's not going to stop me worrying!

Seriously, try not to worry. I know it's easier said than done, but it's out of your hands now, and your IP has put forward the best proposal x

Hi Skippy

I've been reading some of the posts regarding BR just recently and I noticed that your tax code is zero for the year til you are discharged. How is that explained to your payroll dept? That's the only way I could see you being found out by your employer.

bear there are many reasons why your tax code could be nil, it doesnt' always necessarily mean BR.

I didn't get a nil tax code - I went BR on 29th March and as the new tax year started on 6th April HMRC didn't have time to action it.

Can anyone tell me when you have date and time for creditors meeting is up til that time that creditors have to vote or do they actually vote at the actual time your meeting is set, I ask as have to call 30 minutes after my meeting?

Sorry may seem a silly question but feeling very anxious as this time next week will have the answer to my proposed IVA!!

Creditors ought to lodge their votes prior to the start of the creditors meeting, although most IP's will give a 30 minute grace period for votes which are submitted during the meeting.

Try and not get too anxious - over 80% of IVA proposals which are submitted are eventually accepted, so as long as you are putting best foot forward there should be nothing to worry about.

Good luck next week.

ood luck I know how this feels I cold not sleep for weeks prior to mine being approved my mind was a complete mess - I used to shake all night and was too scared to open the curtains incase there was a knock o the door -it's nearly a year later and it's not been easy but for me this was my only option I did not want to go Bankrupt - I feel like your creditors will not want bankrupcy they will get less back so hopefully my fingers are crossed for your IVA being approved
