Hi John,

Just wanted to say thank you for the advice on buying the Dragon, voice recognition program. I managed to get it a bit cheaper, by being a student! It's already saving me loads of time by dictating my services, rather than having to type them all out.

I'm also using it to post to the forum, and it's great, but if you find any of my posts has a funny phrase then it's down to the voice recognition software not me!

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it selling for at full price?

Maybe that would sort out the problem with my diabolical spelling[:I]

Skippy it is the thing John was talking about at Frugal friends where he speaks into his computer and the words type on there own!!!!

As you can tell I am rubbish with anything technical and if I did get it would have no idea how to get it ony my laptop[:I][:I]

I'm no good with technical things either - that's Dave's job! Luckily he used to be a computer engineer and an engineer for cable TV and telephone, so he's pretty technical!

I agree about Mr C - I hope he's ok and it's not him.

Hey Debbie and John, is this as good as it sounds as I was thinking that my brother, my nephews and I could club together to get this for my Dad's seventieth birthday this year. My Dad is in uni doing his masters and if it is as amazing as it sounds would be perfect for him. He's not really computer minded though, is it easy? Thanks, Viki X

Hi Folks

It's cutting my work time at the moment and I am only just getting used to it ... I anticipate that it will eventually cut my work time by a third, even half when i get proficient.

I purchased mine from this website which was advertised in an OU magazine and it was a really good price ... but I had to put a student number in to order it, it came the next day. You could try putting any old number in. The OU student numbers start with a letter (latter part of the alphabet) followed by seven numbers!

Would thoroughly recommend it.

I also searched for it on Amazon and eBay are there were some good offers ... as John says you must have version 9 though.

As well as dictation you can use it to control the computer.

It's highly recommenmded for anyone with arthritis in their hands.

Believe it or Not Pixie, but you can get a great Mic from Tescos for around £20. Morrisons do one too for around £13.00 but for a really good one Logitech do one for around £40

I've managed to get hold of one for £10 which seems ok. I just need to set it all up and work out what I'm doing now!
