Lily,

Much as I would like to tell my parents, I know that they would not understand how I managed to get in all this debt and they would be horrified.

They have never been in debt and never will be. My mother often comments if there is something on tv that she doesn't know how they can sleep at night owing all this money.

They would be gutted and it would spoil my relationship with them because I know they would never forgive me. They would most definitly judge me! When I left my first husband they even likened me to a prostitute! It took a long time to get over that one and there is no way I could go there again.

Sadly I can tell nobody, I have four children and three of them have their own lives.

My mother wouldn't understand what an IVA is, bless her and if I told her she would then go tell everyone in Manchester as she'd think it's something to be proud of, something I've achieved. (you've got to know her to understand her).

No it's hubby and me and hopefully we'll live the 53 months left to pay. If not, not sure and cannot afford an insurance whilst in IVA so sadly it will be hard for the children but I truly know it's right for me not to say anything. Husband is an only child and his Mum would disown him as she already thinks (her words) I've dragged him downn to my council house level (lovely woman). Not to worry, be positive we'll survive.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I understand folks, everyone is different, we cant put everyone in the same box, they react differently. My Mom and Dad hated debt, didnt owe anything, they were also very narrow minded. Only you know how your family would react. To be honest here, my Mother didnt react too well at first and I felt so guilty. I put it on the line to her, right now Mom, I have all this to worry about, so getting a new top or attending this wedding isnt the first thing I think about, I am not trying to avoid going out with you I just cant afford to, I am desperately worried and scared to death. She changed completely and offered to help, she did tell the family and they all wanted to help. I think I tried for around 11 hours to explain IVA, she still didnt get it.....
