Hi
I am currently going through a full and final IVA. I am with a reputable company!! but have had to chase them continually just to get anything done. After 12 weeks I finally received the proposal last week and sent it back recorded delivery. I was told by e-mail that once they received it back signed they could arrange a hearing date the very next day - I'm still waiting. I have e-mailed, phoned and left messages for a call back - nothing. I'm considering phoning their switch board and asking to speak to someone higher in authority but don't want to hack them off as I need them to do their best for me - I just don't know where to turn to now. Any thoughts?

Hi
Be persistent, ask for a call back and take a note of who you speak to requesting a call back.
What company are you with ?

Grant Thornton. When I do get to speak to them they are really helpful, it's just getting through to them that's the problem!

Hi
This can be a problem with large companies, you become a case number and not an individual.Having said that I found Mark Allen, who is a partner with Grant Thornton,a very switched on and approachable guy who is a very good ambassador for the insolvency industry. You are with a good company, just keep at them.

12 weeks wait..and more waiting..that's ridiculous. You could be accruing 3 months of extra debt and charges to add to the debt you had informed your IVA firm.

No disrespect to GT but this seems to be an ongoing problem, when I first read this post I guessed it was them before the poster said. Something that Gt should address. There have been a fwe posts like this and they are all GT.

Very easy for people not in the profession to pass judgement on those who are! 12 weeks is a little on the long side, but this could be for very good reasons. Some times clients are not so speedy at sending information in, and we cannot perform until we have a complete file.

There are no hard and fast rules - isn't it better to go to a reputable company and wait a little longer?

Melanie I did say no disrespect to Gt just that it had come up a few times lately, and that it maybe a good idea to look into to see if there is a commmunication problem. I totally agree that Gt is reputable and a good company, and agree also that some take a long time to return ifo that is necessary, I have posted before that speed depends very much on how quickly you return your info to the Ip.

Hi
Quote "After 12 weeks I finally received the proposal last week and sent it back recorded delivery. I was told by e-mail that once they received it back signed they could arrange a hearing date the very next day - I'm still waiting."
Thats the problem here, saying that they will do something the next day and then not sticking to that.
It all comes down to communication,we need a little bit more, maybe a weekly update, maybe a returned call when promised etc etc

I returned all my paperwork asap when using GT, didn't delay in anyway, didn't have a complicated case, but still took 21 weeks. Like the poster said GT are very helpful when you get through to them, but you do get the impression they are overwelmed with work. As CCCS refer IVA cases to them it's no suprise really.

Hi

Thanks for all your comments. I did persist and finally got a result today!! Apparently the guy who drafted the original proposal went on holiday, so someone else took over, then this guy came back so the first guy handed my signed proposal to him and had sent on my e-mails etc.I did say that was fine but nobody communicated all this to me - if they had kept me in the loop I wouldn't have been sat here thinking they were ignoring me. I do think they are a good company just a little bit poor at communication, anyway, we have a hearing date of the 14th.
(Phoned mercers and told them but they said they will still come knocking anyway - judging by comments on this forum, nothing new there then [;)]

Hi Andy

They have quoted;

Nominee's fees £1,500
Supervisor's fee £1,750
Disbursements £168
Input Fee £568
Filing Fee £20
Bordere au? £98

Total £4,134

out of a total of £25,497 that we have available to pay a full and final

Does that seem about right?

Is that for one case or two - and are the fees doubling up in both - I note the £20 registration fee which indicates you are part of a couple?
