Fed up!

Hiya, New to the forum - just looking for a bit of support, found Christmas tough, been in IVA since August and this month we are literally down to our last £35 to last ten days - just not sure how we'll do it! Just feeling very down about it all at the moment, five years seems a hell of a long time.[:(]

Hi ther salty and welcome to the forum. I thik we all have these down times. Remember thius is a long month after xmas as most get paid early. Most people I know at work and not in iva's are saying theyre out of cash so you are not alone. Is there any reason why you are finding it difficult or is it just the aftermath of xmas.

Hi Saltyfi -

Sorry to hear you are feeling down about your IVA. Please remember that you have already achieved so much in getting this far - and Ang is definitely right - I think we all have bad days now and again when things seem a bit bleak.

There is no doubt about it - an honestly and properly set-up IVA IS tough at times - and five years IS a long time. No way around that. But it is a means to what will hopefully be a great end - no more debts!!! There are bound to be a few tough months along the way. I had one in December but survived it. (I am assuming your previous months went OK?). Take a look back at where things went off the rails this month and put it down to experience - but - if possible - make a mental note of what caused the problems for future refernce.

Hope you feel better soon and PLEASE stick with the IVA. Things may get tough sometimes but - its got to be better than what went before - and you are well on your way to escaping the debt nightmare.

Thanks for the kind words and support, think it's just tough to see everyone around you spending merrily, even though we got ourselves in this position - i still feel resentful and having two young children to entertain in this weather with zero pence is a challenge - good to know we're not alone.

Dont forget that a lot of the people you see in the shops may look happy (and probably ARE at the moment!!!) but chances are that many of them are buying on credit they cant really afford and 1 / 2/ 3 years down the line from now they may well find themselves in the same boat as so many on this forum.

By that time you will be well down the IVA road and looking forward to a fresh start.

Hello Salty,

Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time, being in an IVA can be hard as you are challenged to live without credit. Do you have friends or family that could support you a little for 10 days?

Just to throw something out there, Could you go back to the basics of children entertainment like playing board games of Monopoly and Scrabble, card games etc. I know that it sounds boring after everything that we have at our finger tips - PS3's, Sky TV, internet etc. Just a thought.

Can't ask for help as People don't know! Husband on very good wage people just don't know half of it goes on IVA!stupid pride I know - Thanks for the advice re-kids but they are only 4&1, something to consider for the future though!

Just think how good it will feel not to get that "after christmas" credit card statement. I have found this month hard work. I have 4 children, I have been driving with my petrol light on and we have all had beans on toast tonight, but we have survived, I have not celebrated my birthday, and cancelled social events due to not having any funds!!!! BUT my husband and I get paid tomorrow. YAY!!!

I know the weather is not at it's best at the moment but what about taking children for a walk or to the park when you are stuck for something to do.

i would sell everything you dont need or wnat anynore to genreate some ready cash all thsoe vids/dvds you dont wathc anymore> all those CDS you dont lsiten to anymore get shot of them declutter and encash.

Made £50 selling old dvds on Amazon - just got to afford postage now!!!
