I have approached a company called Harrington Brooks, they seem really good and want a £300 fee , is this normal. Have checked them out and there is positve feedback and lots of good comments. Can you confirm that they are a good and an ok company to go with . Thanks Trace

Hi Trace
Welcome to the forum.

I don't know much about that company, and it is normal for these fees
But here are many companies that don't charge upfront fees to arrange an IVA.
These charges are usually only paid if the IVA is accepted.
Also, these charges and other fees related to the IVA will come out of your monthly payments and these are agreed and authorised by your creditors.

Check IVA.com for reviews in other companies, call some other ones and see what they say.
Or read some more posts in the forum and you will find plenty of comments and reviews related to great IVA companies here.

Good luck
Luigi

we are with Harrington Brooks. We paid a fee of £450 when we were accepted.
An IVA is a long hard road but valuable lessons have been learnt along the way. Now looking forward to enjoying a debt free future!

Hi Trace,

I'm with Harrington Brookes and I paid a £300 fact finding fee before my IVA was put in motion. That was before I found this site and realised I may not of needed to pay it if I'd gone with someone else.

But never the less, they have been fine so far and I have no complaints.

HTH
I can now do without.....

I have just received an authority to act from Harrington Brooks and they want 2 x £150 fee the 1st at end of this month. I am not sure I want to choose this IP. It looks like I should do some more research.

You should not need to pay any upfront fees to your IP. Why have they said that this is necessary, and have you tried any other IP firms to see how they compare?

Hi Trace - welcome to the forum :-)

As you will see from the various responses, the £300 fee you have been quoted is not a necessary payment to make. Of course if you are completely happy with HB and don't mind paying it then of course do so but it may also be worth chatting to a couple more companies to make your comparisons before making any decisions.
