Hi All,

Im not sure if this is a normal feeling when applying for an IVA but I just keep thinking they will say NO.

My total amount is around £30k.

I have applied for an IVA, my creditors are:
Halifax
Barclays Credit Card
Virgin Credit Card
Lloyds Tsb Overdraft

I have just received my creditors meeting date 23rd Nov...

Does anyone know if any of these creditors just refuse IVA's?

Hi and welcome NoCash2012, it's perfectly normal how you are feeling, we have all been there, but your IP would not be proposing an IVA for you if they weren't extremely confident it would be accepted, as long as your best offer is put forward then the likelihood is they will accept, what is their alternative if they don't?

Which company are you going with?

Hi and welcome.

As Lem says, these feelings are natural but your IP would not be putting your offer forward if they did not think it would be accepted.

I am sure you will be fine and the best of luck for the 23rd.

I have gone with ClearDebt. I originally spoke to Gregory Pennington, but after a bit of googling it looked like a lot of people had bad experiences of using them.

I looked at the IP reviews on this website and decided to contact clear debt. They have been very helpful.

They are proposing a monthly payment of £100 and then in about 16 months time when i finish paying a CCJ my payments will increase to £233 (obviously including the CCJ amount).

my debts are currently around £600, if the IVA doesnt go through i really dont want to go bankrupt but might have to. Or have a dmp over a massive amount of years.

I live with my wife and 2 children. Im the only one with any income.

ClearDebt have been very good and although obviously they cannot guarantee anything a few of the people I have spoke to have said its quite a straight forward one.

I suppose its just the waiting that plays on your mind.

Feels much better talking about it though :)

The creditors you list are straightforward creditors, Barclays were one of mine and weren't an issue, I'm sure it will be fine, Clear debt are a reputable firm

I was in the same boat as u last month worrying that mine wouldn't be accepted but I definitely would agree that they wouldn't be putting it forward if they didn't think it would be accepted.... Mine went through ok after all my worrying.... Good luck and try not to stress x

That makes sense and would have to be paid in bankruptcy anyway. Best of luck and I am sure you will be fine.

Lloyds were one of mine and I don't think they even voted! I have not heard of an IVA proposal being refused on here for a long time. Your IP wouldn't put a proposal forward unless they were confident of it being approved. Good luck and try not to worry!

Hi Nocash2012,

Well done on getting this far, it must be starting to feel like light at the end of the tunnel.

Although I cannot say how creditors will vote on an IVA I haven't seen, I agree with the comments above. As IPs we want all our proposals to be approved and most firms take great pride in drafting excellent proposals.

As an IP I have to ensure the the proposal is fit to be put to creditors and fair to you and the creditors. Creditors do read the proposals and provided it is your best offer I am sure you will be fine. Good luck at the meeting. Sam

Hi no cash 2012

I echo what everyone above has said ; I've just completed after 6 yrs , i worried at every review and every phone call or letter I got from my iva co and all without need to as everything was ok

I'm pretty sure your iva will be accepted no problem and also you will then feel like the weight of the world has been taken off your shoulders
