mellymoo - I think it's the time of year and the nights drawing in. A lot of us seem a bit low at the moment. You've done well though to be 17 months in - nearly a third of the way there.

Keep smiling

mellymoo don't worry yourself - you have entered your journey and you are on track to be debt free in a few months time - ok so you have made 17 payments to date - presuming you are doing this over 5 years another three payments you will have paid 33% off what you agreed ....work out some bite size achievment steps and look to those ! Just think this time next year you will be nearing 50% of the way - once you reach that stage you are on the downward spiral !

We all get bad days but remember you have done the hardest thing and asked for helped ! You can hold your head up high and say I will be debt free at the end of it and be able to start my life again !

We are here for you so come on and speak out whenever you need to x

It happens to us all - the off days.

Just think positive about when you have finished and you're debt free. I treat it as I would a loan and think that when it is paid off I'll be debt free.

Hi Mellyloo. Just read your post and feel for you. Well done getting as far as you have. I am just at the begining of my journey. I have 2 boys also and try to advise them to never get in debt. You will get through this with the help from the amazing people on this site who are there for u when u need them until the end and beyond. You will no doubt give people like myself valuable advice and information before you kno it. U could actually help me just now. How long does it take for the letters and phone calls to die down. I am preparing myself for them. x

Dawn, the calls are a total pain!! I advise that if you do anything online with your creditors you go in and delete contact numbers.

You can refuse to answer security questions and they cannot continue with the call.

You can tell them to just contact you via your mobile or you could think about changing your number.

Got caller ID so can just ignore them. It the fact of having to listen to the phone ring constantly. I dont actually go out much wi my back unless my husband takes me in the car and occasionally i go to meet a friend in town for lunch so cant get away from it much. I supose if i kno it will be ok and stop in the end i can try to think of that. Thanks jan. Off to bed now but no doubt i be on wi another question tomorro.x

I remember those days with the calls, it was a pain the backside. First thing I did when I agreed to an IVA was change my mobile and house number and not pass on those details to my creditors. Gave my IP the details and it was nice and quiet for the first time in many years....
