Hi
I have not felt so guilty for a very long time. Me and my daughter went shopping yesterday and bought a few new clothes yesterday for everyone, didnt spend a fortune.
But this morning I have got up and cannot help feeling guilty and keep thinking "what have I done" spending money??

Its funny because thats how it makes us feel. We used to get the same feeling of guilt each time, especially if it was something for us and not the kids. I suppose its a good thing because that, after all is what teaches us throughout the 5 years of the IVA that if we really dont need it we dont have to buy it.

I'm not in my IVA yet (hopefully Friday) but have the feeling, sometimes I say I want a new brown coat, never buy one as I've got a black one, just freeze when I wear my brown boots! Totally re-educated us living on a budget and only paid one months IVA payment up front so far, so I'm sure after 5yrs you must be rehabilitated to a very high level. I'm convinced I will be. I use the clothing allowance mainly on daughter and have told her if I save it for a few months and we go visit family in Manchester she can get a fair few items from her favourite shop (Primark). x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I have got so used to buying some very good clothes in local charity shops that I now resent having to buy new clothes!

I have started to turn to ebay a lot to buy things. I bought shoes new in the box for 3.20 last week and another yesterday for 7.00 (retail at 60.00) and I have wide feet. All the rest I tend to get in sales, but I always did anyway. I think as said you have to say do I really need this, if not leave it there.

Hi Caraf

Don't be guilty about buying new clothes..
When you do your income/expenditure you should allow a little bit for new clothes.
although my iva is now finished i used to allow mtself £20 a month which covered socks etc and my ip as happy with this.
