Im not feeling very good today im so scared about our iva . I have had some great advice from people off here but i just cant stop freting about it all. Clearstart are working on our proposal at the moment . I had a consultation with Clearstart last week we went to see them at their office in Nottingham.Felt alot better after speaking to someone face to face and a large burden was lifted as we finally faced upto the fact we were in debt. Just not feeling so great now .

I wish i could say something to make you feel better but i can't. This forum does help though but i have been the same for the past 4 months trying to second guess what the creditors meeting will do. Hopefully this afternoon i will know if it has been accepted. All i can say is read the forums they have given me great support. Write to your creditors explaining you have taken independant advice and are looking towards an iva and give them Clear starts details you can find some standard letters on the web to send.

If you can change your phone number. I told BT i was getting calls all the time for a Taxi firm and they changed it for free! This does stop the creditors ringing all the time. They do still write the standard letters but your Ip will advice you if you need to worry.

I only had one door step collect who was very polite. Left her on the door step she tried everything to get my telephone number and get me to speak to Citi cards whilst she was there. I just politely told her that i was applying for an IVA gave her my Ip address and telephone number and tols her under advice i would not be discussing it anymore, She accdepted this and left.

Once the proosal was sent letters stopped coming.

Until i get the 100% YES im on an IVA i will still feel sick! BUT take support from this forum some fantastic people on here. If you feel down and alone just post a topic and look how quick they all support you!

If you dont mind me asking who are your creditors. We had just about everybody you can think of. £180,000 in debt with evry bank and credit card you can name. 2 growing kids and just using credit to pay off another up until our eyes opened and we had used every bit of credit we could and no longer make the payments. To make it worse our jobs wouldn't allow us to go Bancrupt. The what will be will be attitude is the best one. At the end of the day they can not have what you don't have (Although they will keep trying!) remeber also the law is there to protect you to to enabkle you to have enough money to live on.
Good luck and smile!

Thankyou , are main creditor is Natwest bank ,vanquis, aqua, aliance and leicester ,lloyds tsb ,(alot of debt was from my last marriage ,i was working at the time part time and we had three chidren he went off with someone else and i was left on benefits and my eldest daughter is disabled so i couldnt return to work .In my divorce he wasnt made to help me clear the debt and we had no assets so i was left with it as it was mostly in my name only. He dosnt contribute to his children either but thats a different story !)Alot of the debt has been passed to debt collection agencies moorcroft, lowwell etc then we have provident and greenwoods. Total £55565 .My new hubby has helped me clear some of the debt but because of this we have ended up in a worse state . I am relieved to be doing something about it all and just want to get it all sorted out properly if not for me and hubby for our kids .

I must say out of all my creditors NATWEST was one of the best. No threatening letters. They have asked for a slight increase in my proposal but nothing huge. lloyds TSB have voted yes on ours to. Im no expert on here and you should always take proffesional advice anyway. But you have made the first step to sorting it out GOOD LUCK. Right im off to sort the house out before the wife gets back or ill be in even more trouble than i am now!

Try not to feel down rachel, Natwest and tsb were the big creditors that I had. I never heard a thing froim natwest and they voted yes and the same with tsb though they didnt vote. Try to stay positive, a supportive partner is the best thing in the world, I remember feeling the same had a good day and then a bad one, hopefully you wont have to long to wait.

Rachell,
I reall feel for you, I know how hard it can be when you have all this worry hanging over you. It is a real emotional rollercoaster, up one minute then crashing down the next, start to feel great minute and then worried sick the next. I do hope you feel better soon, try not to worry, I know that is easier said than done, but you will get sorted and things will improve. You will find many friends on this forum and we will all be there with a shoulder to cry on whenever you need it, and give you all the help and support possible. You will get through it and things will start to improve the biggest step has already been taken, hang in there :)

Good luck Adders with this afternoon, hope it all goes well for you.
Very best wishes
Mike

Hi Rachel

Hang on there I would be lying if I tell it will be plain sailing because it isn't but what I can say is that it is the start of sorting this big problem out and afterwards there will be some calmer waters and as others ahve said we are here to try and help!

Good Luck

I know how you feel, me and my husband are in the same situation, we are waiting for the creditors meeting. We are just as scared and we know how the worry eats up every waking moment, as well the night.
When I first joined this site I felt as though I was lost in a black hole, but, as my husband says, They can take our home and possessions, but they cant take the things that mean the most, our family.
I thought this was really sweet, but also true.
Good luck with the IVA, I hope it comes through for you both, but try not to worry, things have a way of falling into place if we try hard enough.
