Hi everyone, you may or may not remember I posted about a week and a half ago, I'm an IVA newie. We've opened our new account with the Co-Op and I am just waiting on some more documents to send to VB. Was feeling a lot more positive until today when one of our creditors called (shouldn't have plugged the phone back in!!). I explained to the guy what we were doing, and suggested he contact VB - he was quite rude and said they wouldn't be doing that and until I make a further payment they will continue to call me and impose late/default charges. It just set me back a bit, even though I have read all your really helpful advice. Just wanted to get this off my chest.

I am afraid that there will be more of this to contend with in the days leading to the presentation of your proposals to creditors. Be strong and don't let these little men (or women!) grind you down. Stick to the advice yo have been given, and get the documents to your chosen IP firm as quickly as you can.

Hi there rainbowofhope. I know first hand how daunting and intimidating the calls are, like you say leave the phone unplugged and correspond via letter if that suits you better.

Some creditors are very rude when they ring and others are more than helpful and sympathetic to the fact you're experiencing problems.

I hope you soon feel better, try not to let this get you down it's not worth it honest, you're gathering your information and hopefully you'll soon be joining myself on the IVA wagon x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Sorry to hear that rainbow.....which Company was it if you dont mind me asking? In any event try not to worry, just keep telling them VB's details and if you can, keep a record of the persons name and times of calls. Good luck...your doing the right thing.

Thanks Mel and Lesley - this forum has been a god send for me up to now! I'm just waiting on a few more documents which I didn't have to hand at home, hopefully they'll arrive this week and then I can send them off and feel like we're getting somewhere. Really appreciate your support x

I'd unplug the phone again if I were you!

You could also think about changing your number, that way you won't have to worry about answering.

Hi Pennyless - it was Sygma Bank on behalf of JJB credit card. They and MBNA have been the most persistent with constant letters and phone calls (and we only started looking into IVA on 2nd Sept!!). That's why we unplugged the phone last week. Thankfully they don't have my mobile number! Thanks for your support, it's really appreciated x

I'll definitely be sticking around - I read this forum constantly at first before registering, and felt like I could use your support - you've all been great. Still a long way to go, but it'll be worth it in the end (just hope our IVA is accepted) x

We unplugged our phone as well!

However, we had changed over to BT Broadband and Broadband Talk and so had a different number we could use.

I can't recommend that highly enough - it's bliss to know that it's just friends and relatives who are going to phone.

Rainbowofhope I'd echo Lesleys thoughts....we all gain support from eachother on these threads and the experience and ideas from others can be worth their weight in gold.

Rainbowofhope, like you I'm at the early stages. I'm due to have an initial discussion with my IP this evening. I've already been unplugging the phone due to the constant phone calls from debt management agencies, 6 in half an hour one Saturday morning. I'm not sure how they got hold of my number as I'm x directory and pretty carefull who I give it out to. I guess I have worse to come.
