I'm more of a dog lover, but I know where you are coming from Skip!

I don't know why you would make it up, but it doesn't ring true to me.

You might not have killed it, but your ferret did, so if you were my neighbour I would hold you completely responsible as the ferret should have been in a secure cage.

Regardless of whether it is serious or not, I don't think it is something that should be posted on here.

There are too many animal lovers who will be upset by this.

How about moving the thread to the social posts bit and please lets not all jump on Gavin. If you were going to make up a daft thing to post about it wouldnt be a ferret killing a cat. Different strokes for different folks, lets remember that.
Gavin I suggest you make moves to ensure this cannot happen again. Its unlikely that the police will take action other than to order you to maintain control of your pet. It may be worth talking to your neighbour and perhaps suggesting you may like to buy him/her a kitten to replace the lost cat.

I am with Andy though, possibly the wierdest thing I have ever read posted on the forum!!

I just think it's tasteless and was a question for Gavin's IP if he thinks he might need a payment break.

Thankfully my neighbours keep their ferrets under control!

His neighbour could always try the Cats Protection League, or similar organisations, as they always have animals looking for new homes.

I doubt that would need a payment break.

Only Andy or Admin can move this to the social side.

I agree Jan, far better to give a rescue cat or kitten a home than buy something.

Harry came from a local charity and we had to make a £65 donation towards the cost of his neutering and keep while he was in a foster home.

Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.

Some people just dont like the thought of animals suffering and perhaps jumped the gun a little bit without realising that you were being serious as it is a serious matter.
If you can show the police that the ferret is secured at all times then an apology to the neighbour and a guarentee that the incident cannot be repeated may get you off the hook, although how far things go would depend on the neighbour(although it may be hard to prove who started things).

Try yahoo for advice as well.

I would still offer to get my neighbour a new cat from a rescue organisation - unless of course it was a pedigree?

Yes, a pedigree cat. I'm not saying that it was, but it is always a possibility.

It varies depending on the breed. A Siamese or Burmese kitten can cost around £350, and I've seen Bengal's for sale for up to £400.
