Either that or tell him to sue you - it must have been some cat to ask for that much. If it was valuable then surely it should have been insured.

What happens to the ferret now that it's killed something?

Can't help you any further unless you had insurance for the ferret Gavin, in which case you could do it through that.

As soon as possible and preferably before going to court admit full liability. Possibly worth writing a letter to the cat owner offering to replace the cat,if he can provide evidence as to the cats value. Keep a copy of the letter and then if he does drag you to court you can show the judge that you have made every effort to sort the situation rather than waste the time of the courts.

In my opinion he is trying it on. Tell him if he continues to harass you,that you will inform the ploice that he is trying to extort money from you!!

I´m not sure i agree with everyone saying it is offensive if this is for real. If the cat got into the ferrets cage, surely that is then the cats fault no? Just because a ferret is not a typical pet and might not appeal to everyone´s taste there shouldnt be a reason why someone concerned with what might happen to them be subjected to such a reaction.
