Payment number 60 left my bank account today, I can't really believe it my IVA is complete [:D][:D][:D][:D]

GT have advised me to contact them later this week to confirm receipt of the final payment then my case can be transferred to the closure team, they told me completion takes typically 6 months so I should have my completion certificate by the end of September.

I have been reading the numerous horror stories relating to delayed closures and it's a bit of a sickener that the HMRC debacle has created such a massive backlog of closures.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that within 6 months I will receive my completion certificate as promised.

At the moment nothing can spoil the euphoria of knowing I have fulfilled my obligations and I don't have any more IVA payments to make [^][^][^][^]

Thanks Andy

I fully intend to keep on posting, I have received a lot of invaluable help and advice from members of this forum which has helped me get through the last 5 years.

I hope in the future my experiences will in some small way help others who are just starting out.

A big thank you to the forum for all the help and advice over the last 5 years, when things are going badly it's good to know you are not alone [8D][8D][8D]

As I understand it, we aren't fully released from our obligations under an IVA until such time as the certificate / letter of completion is issued. What are IVA companies saying to those people who have made their final payment about their ongoing obligations for the 6 or more months it is likely to take to full closure?

I believe that if you have any windfalls you are still expected to pay them across otherwise you stop making your payments and just hang on for that letter.

This taken from a post in the to vanquis or not to vanquis thread:

"On the 6th March i cancelled a vanquis card with a £500 limit, GT advised i could be failed as i hadn't received my CC.

I thought because i had made my last payment 6 months ago i would be ok, to get one, how wrong i was."

The reason I asked the question is that I think there is very little said about what the ongoing obligations are in what is now becoming a significant period of time post final payment.

If people could find themselves being threatened with failure 6 months after final payment because they mistakenly believe that they have fulfilled their obligations then something is going wrong somewhere.
