I think, after this "not so warm" winter, fuel bills will make life really hard :0(

This isn't my strong suit!!

But I saved loads last month by taking packed lunches. I got a huge pack of 18 bags of crisps for £4, made a batch of cornflake cakes and fridge cake (£12) and buy a loaf and some sliced meat each week (£4 x 4) so my entire monthly lunches cost £32. And one of the bags of crisps was empty...so I'm sending off with a note in the hope of a voucher for some more crisps!!

BOL, my problem with having crisps in the house is that I eat them and I've been known to eat many packs in one day, I love crisps and am so greedy around them! x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Fridge cake, tiffin, alpini, biscuit cake???

You melt chocolate with golden syrup and butter, then pur it over a mix of bashed up biscuits and other dry stuff such as sultanas, nuts, fudge, marchmellows or whatever you fancy. Then it goes in the fridge to set.

It's a bit like rocky road but all the bits are smaller so it's less 'rocky' LOL

Everything seems to be so much more expensive all of a sudden. My weekly shop seems to go up week by week.

It is good...there will be loads of recipes on the internet but I use...

3 bars chocolate
4 tablespoons golden syrup
250g butter
Melt it all up and if you melt the butter first you can drop the chocolate in and save on washing up another bowl!

250g biscuits bashed to crumbs and small lumps (value biscuits go a treat)!
150g sultanas/ raisins
150g other dry ingredients like coconut, nuts, dried fruit, fudge)

This can be cut into about 15 pieces - 3 weeks of sweet treat for lunch.

Can this post be removed please?

I am on a diet and am sitting here drooling at the thought of that delightful mixture. All my favourite ingredients rolled into one!

Couldn't do that now - I would be exceedingly ill!

Luluj that sounds amazing. It's all the butter that makes it so rich and it sounds fab with cherries. Did you go glace or the dried sour ones?

We've just upped our budget to £320 for three adults and this has been accepted.

Very rare that sweet stuff is in the house now - I think even in my heavy eating days I would have found the fridge cake too sickly.

Delia Smiths chocolate truffle torte is to die for though (even though I don't eat it anymore!)
