It's been the same here, they must be out in the pouring rain. My poor cat is permanently living under the bed.[:(]

Every time I see big firework displays - and there is a massive one in Cardiff every bonfire night and New Year's Eve, I wonder why they don't save the money and give an equivalent amount to local hospitals or the homeless. So much money wasted on just a second of temporary enjoyment, could do so much good in the real world.

There is a man in my village who sells luxury cars and 4x4's and lives in a huge house. He normally has the loudest fireworks I have heard in my life - they light up the whole village and the house even shakes with the bangs[:0]

Don't know if he has been hit by the credit crunch or just his children getting older but all quiet this year!

My dog sleeps through fireworks and is not affected at all, but they are such a worry to animals who are scared and also wild animlas[:(]
Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....

Best Wishes

I agree Melanie. I know this makes me sound bah humbug, but as far as I'm concerned you may as well burn £20 notes as buy fireworks.

I don't like how fireworks are let off for days before and after November 5th.

However, I had a few in my garden last year (on Nov 5th) and a neighbour came round to complain that her dog had got scared and ran out of the house. She said I should have warned her.
What a joke! Novmber 5th is Bonfire night and happens every year. If she chose to leave a door or windown open for that flea ridden rat to escape out of on the noisiest day of the year then that is her own look out.
Just how many people and streets did she expect me to go to warn of the fire works!?!

They're STILL letting them off around here - it's now 12th November and enough is enough. Harry doesn't seem too bothered, although I'm locking his cat door early to be on the safe side, but I really feel sorry for animals who are scared.

I agree with Skippy. Fireworks are just overpriced excuses to make as much noise, and upset as many people as possible. There are some going off by me even as I type this.

I'm afraid I'm in agreement with your neighbour Angelrainbow. My immediate neighbours always tell me if they are losing any off (they didn't have any this year), and dogs do need to go outside at some point during the night. I try and let mine out in between bouts of fireworks going off, but a lot of the time, just as they get down to business, there will be a big bang and they rush back into the house.

It's not always carelessness that allows them to escape. If they can push past you if you have to open the door, they will run off. My one dog is extremely strong, and if she decided to push past me through the front door I wouldn't be able to stop her. I'm just glad that I've got secure fencing in my garden, otherwise I could be minus two dogs through no fault of my own.

I don't think fireworks are for gardens, I think they should only be used in organised events. Just an opinion of a terrified cat owner.
