Hi everyone,

Hubby had his first creditor phone call today from Goldfish (Morgan And Stanley) All our paper work has been recently returned to Melanie so we are in the early stages of our IVA. We have decided not to pay any token payments to any so at least we won't crumble when they ask !! We were all ready with a speech but we were not ready for the questions she asked, She said she had to fill out an IVA form on line as hubby was talking to her. Her questions were

1. How much will your first payment to the IVA company be

2. What is your employers name (Although she said this was nothing to do with the IVA only with the contract we took out with the credit card company.

3. What is your reference number

We gave her no answers to her questions and said we would ask our IP firm before divulging and answers, Have we done the right thing? do they need to know at this stage how much we will be paying??

Thanks for any help recieved

Maxie x

absolutely - they should not ask the employer details etc - they will receive a letter soon enough from your IP with the IVA details on it and therefore until then remain quiet ....try not to answer the calls or if you do give a standard response " I am entering into an IVA and am awaiting a meeting date, once known our IP will be in contact with your company, good bye"

Remain polite, positive and focused and the worst will be behind you!

Ours have started also.

The guy that phoned from Barclaycard was very good when I told him we were proposing an IVA. he also asked for a reference number but we don't have one. He said that he will make a note on the file to stop any phone calls. He didn't metion anything about how much we would be paying though.
I keep missing one of the callers. I think it's Bank of Scotland. I've missed a couple of times during the day while at work and I've also not quite got to the phone in time before it goes to answerphone. I try to intercept but they just hang up! They must think I'm avoiding them but I honestly just keep missing them.
Carl.

If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of credit card payments!!!

We are with Melanie to.

We too have not made any toke payments - apart from anything we couldn't lots of stupid bills that would normally have gone on CC.

We have paid some things early to make life a little easier like school bills etc/trips, holiday clubs, breakfast clubs etc.

When creditos have rang me I have gone through the painful task of taking the standard letter (Melanies team provide you with for sending to your creditors) out of the file and stating. So glad you have called. I have sent you a letter on the 18th April it states blah, blah, blah I actually read it too them, check the address I have sent it too is correct if not take a different one, I basically do all the talking so they can't get a word in. Then I tell them exactly what Melanies team have told me in terms of where everything it up to. I then tell them I will ring them when I hear anything different - this I don't do purley because they will ring me again in 10 days time. I have been extremely lucky as I have not had many problems with calls. Halifax have been the most persistant 4 calls this week I was hung up on twice and have had 2 apologies.

I wouldn't have answered those questions either.

Everyone deals with these calls differently. Alot of people on here have chose to ignore the calls for whatever reason - it's personal and no way is wrong. You do what is right for you.
It helps me to answer the calls, I am going to remember this part all the way through the rest of my life as there is no way I am putting myself in this posistion again!

I hope you are okay and try not to let them get you down. [:)]

Thanks Luluj,

Thats great, we didn't think they needed that info, just didn't want to harm the IVA going through if we were holding back on any info they needed.

By the way just read your post it was great, can't wait till were 2 years on !!!

Thanks for your reply's

Its great to know there's people out there on hand at any time to answer the questions, I know we can get intouch with Melanie's office but don't want to be a nusience.

We want to answer the calls we feel as though we need to.
I have read a few posts about people having CCJ's and Charge orders put on the house, is this the norm? while the IVA is going through.

Thanks again

We have had one letter from I think Amex re a CCJ. Rang Melanie's office and they said don't worry send it to us we will deal with it. We have not heard anything else from it.

ALWAYS ring Melanie's office if you are worried. They are there to help and you are not a pain.

I know she will say the same.

Other than that post on here. She is always on here.

Good luck and try not too worry. We have just had our proposal from Melanie, so I know how you are feeling [:I]

Maxie you are welcome.

We contacted Melanie in April time about the middle I think. I like to think I have been on the ball with most things, We have gathered our mail each week and forwarded it to Melanies team. Although saying that we have last weeks mail on the living room table as I have ben out of action and oh doesn't seem to know what a big red post box is actually for, I feel this may have back fired as he got a letter today saying they are 'considering sending a personl representative round' I hope they come on Monday evening afte my first day back at work! [:(!] I am just going to post it tomorrow off to Melanie and her team.
Anyway I digress......with have Northern Rock as a creditor so Melanie put a mini proposal through to them first and it was ok'd in principle, now we have got our proposal which we have read a couple of times. We are going through it tonight with a highlighter and a big glass of......................coke lol!
You will have to keep us posted as to how you are doing. Try and remember these people who call are just doing their job - if they really annoy you get on here and post - it realy helps. The letters are mainly standard letters - not that I thought they were at first. More you read, more you realise how many of these letters must be received each day - you're not alone! XX

On a final note one Melanie receives our signed proposal it will be about 17-18 days later judging by the paperwork. Not long now.....

On a days leave but I wonder what Melanie is doing, my guess is working, or at least has been for a while or will be later on.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Family wedding in Nottingham tomorrow, and wedding anniversary today!

Angela forgot to remind me that I needed to get a card, and hubby sent flowers to the office as I didn't tell him I wasn't working, so overall I am now a popluar wife at the moment!!

He has had to go and collect said flowers from the office, and will no doubt be grumpy all day!!!
