Right today I had a talk to Clear Start. They talked me through my monthly out goings including advising them of my Coeliacs and the extra cost that would be for food etc. The person I talked to also did not seem to think my rent to parents would be a problem. The figures he came back with were:

Monthly expenses = £770
which would allow me to pay between £300-£350 per month which would mean I would pay over 50% of the total debt.

I will have to wait for the information to come through and have one more company to talk to over the next few days. Not had anything from Payplan yet but feel I will need to change my expenses with them anyway.

Also had my think banking information through and think I will be going with them anyway at least to start.

I was advised by the man at Clear Start to cancel direct debits etc and make token payments. He also advised that the whole process could be completed within 4-6 weeks!

Does anyone have any experience with Clear Start?

Lastly off topic is it possible to set up email notification when replies are posted on the forum?

I personally would consider coming clean with your parents, they will have seen financial hardship before. I think that once they get over the news they can help support you emotionally with this problem, face your shame its probably not as bad as you think, then accept and deal with the problem. Talk to them about your solutions DMP, IVA, and BR,

I personally would consider BR living with parents, this way you can get rid of the debts, be in bankruptcy for a year, you might have to make payments into your bankruptcy for up to 3 years, this will be decided by the official reciever, I found them to be nice people and realistic about what you need to live. you dont earn a great deal and they will take all your expenditure into consideration. I personally would have had to pay into my bankruptcy if I earned more that 21+k a year because of my circumstances. I personally was discharged after 6 and a half months I and started to get on with life again, and not paid one bean to my creditors.

It ruins your credit rating as does IVA, but thats not all bad as its credit that got you here in the first place.

As opposed to struggling on with a DMP or IVA it has to be a viable option.

My bankruptcy was a breeze and my name wasn't printed in the paper (not that I would have worried) they very rarely do in my town as it would seem most others, they need the space for ads and too many people choosing BR route.

Remember, If you have not assets, they can't take what you have not got. Don't be bullied by creditors, or schmoozed by IVA companies trying to make a buck.

Good Luck...... and sooner than you think it will be a distant memory.

Hi HR

When I entered into my IVA I used a small company as then a IVA was almost unheard off but now it seems all the big companies want a piece of it. take a look at www.iva.com as they got loads of companies big and small but also ask Melanie's company, she's one of the best and will definately help and look after you.

Personally speaking I would say go for and IVA rather than B/R or DMP.

I think an IVA is a better option at least to start, I am willing to payback what I can on debts that I myself have built up (but not through buying expensive TV's etc) rather than going through BR at the moment. That is always an option in the future but not something I really want to consider now.
