Which bank account is it Kat? if it is tied in with any creditor then you might be better off looking for another one.

Don't touch HSBC or First Direct. They are well known for closing down accounts even if you have no debts with them.

It's nationwide I don't have any debts with them, are they usually ok?. They also said they would arrange the transfer of my direct debits, they didn't ask any questions. So I didn't tell them I might be entering into an VIA. If the take care of the direct debit transfer, might my old bank tell them of my financial difficulties do you think?

Hi Guys, What a frantic day I've had so far - didn't start well as I woke at 4.30am and couldn't get back to sleep - too many things going round in my head!
All morning in work, I've been printing out creditor statements, photocpying statements and all sorts. Decided to try and visit 2 banks as I said I would - Lloyds were not much good, women on the desk was quite rude so I gave up. Halifax gave me a form for the easycash account but it now says that if you are entering into an IVA or any kind of agreement then they won't accept you.
Anyway - I've applied online for a Natwest Step account, and I'll go into the branch to finish the setup with my ID etc in the hope that it is successful, I can then speak to them about my DD's etc.
Hope everyone else is having a decent enough Monday! :)
xx

Hi Susie, looks like Im a few weeks ahead of you with the IVA process, I ended up applying for an account with the co-op and I've got to say it all went through pretty smoothly got my new debit card last week only two weeks after first applying, told my payroll dept as soon as I had account nos so Februarys salary will go in new account, and Im using the co-ops switching service to transfer all DD's and close my old account. Couldn't have gone any better really.

Good luck you're doing the right thing Im certainly glad I've done the same.

suzieq and AJB, I recall all too well the anxieties of the early stages of negotiating my IVA proposal.
I`m with Yorkshire Bank Readycash account, which has a Maestro card and good online banking facilities.
The IVA process can take a good number of weeks, but it takes creditors much longer to invoke any proceedings against you, so time is not a worry however agressive creditors may get.

Just caught up with this, it is great to see friendships starting on the forum, I have made a lot of great friends on here and met some of them as well.

It's good to chat off forum as well so if you wanted to add each other as Frugal Friends then you can exchange email addresses. It is sometimes a help to have a rant or chat away from here.

Thank you - it is nice to know that your not alone going through all the emotions etc.
Got my pack through yesterday to have a read through and had a call from the company last night to go over any questions I had. So hopefully - just waiting on my tenancy agreement and new bank account details and the I can send it all back. They will call me again on Friday to make sure i'm ok with everything.
Its slowly getting there.

It's all big steps in the right direction Susie. Hopefully you will get the agreement and the bank account details through soon.
