sorry to hear about your car.
also sorry to say it but I would bet on it being a uneconomical repair.
My brother just had his car wite off after someone run into the back of it.
10 years old only 76,000 miles fsh. repairs done by me over the last 5 years. run as good as a new car.#
did get £800 for it.
IVA now over with and it was worth it.
now starting my life again,

Thank you Lesley. Strange thing is, a few years back I realised that all of my past motoring mishaps (over a 30 year period ... not that there were many) had been in red cars. So, for quite a while now I have refused to own a red car.

The car that ran into me was .....RED !!!!
About 10 mins after reading this post,
Got a phone call to tell me my son had come of his moterbike.
Hit my a RED car doing a U TURN.
just got him home from hospitl with a broken foot.
and a v/painfull arm.

Glad he's ok Kev.

I've had several red cars and had no problems with them!!!

oh Kev hope your son is ok and gets better soon. I had a red car and loved it, it had holes in the door and part exchanged it for a new car but cried! how sad is that! I loved that car but it was falling to pieces around me!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Quick ...and odd... post script :

The other parties insurance company rang me up. I thought they were going to want to go through the details. But no: "a quick courtesy call to see if you wanted us to deal with your repairs". I declined and explained that MY insurance company had already got things in hand. She then asked, "would you like us to deal with your personal injury claim?" (which I had said nothing about ( not even decided if it's worth the hassle).

How can they deal with MY claims? ---- surely they would be negotiating against themselves !!

Foggy, it wouldn't surprise me if the insurance company would be looking to take on your case against themselves but then sell on the claim to another company in the hope of claiming some commission therefore clawing back some of their own money which would only end up with another company instead.......if that makes sense [8D]
Either that or they're just cold calling after learning about your accident without knowing who you are........does that make sense either![:)]

BTW red cars are ace [:p][:D]

they can deal with your claim,
but I would not let them myself,
had them try this on my brother car, phoned him and told him he would have to pay some of the cost of his hire car as they could get one at less cost.
which is not right, you will also be told you have to give hire car back as soon as the take they offer if car is a write off. dont let them have hire car back till you have clear funds to buy a replacement car.

sorry to hear about your car foggy, cars are the one thing that worries me most about being in an IVA as the allowances you get are very tight but costs of repairs can just spiral, hope it all gets sorted soon x

Well -- it looks like an economical repair ( so, Andy, must be less than £2.50 [:D] ). Going in on Tuesday for a week. And I have had three offers of hire cars! My insurance company are providing one, HERS has offered one and the repair shop has offered one!!

Andy, I had a letter this morning from her insurance company explaining why they offer to help .. first the usual platitudes about them not wanting me being put out as it was abviously the fault of their client (like they care). But, on the personal injury front, they did admit that by dealing with it themselves, they saved legal fees and commissions, which they use to make the offer more generous ( yeah, right).

Doctor confirmed last night that I do have a whiplash injury (more pills !!! ). I wasn't going to bother to claim for it though, as I can't be doing with the hassle ( and the probability that, even though its "pain and suffering", it's go into my IVA) ...... there's a though ... going off at a tengent ( in light of recent PPI threads) .. should my IP be making a claim on my behalf to maximise the return to the creditors !!!

You are soooo naughty Foggy!! Maybe the woman was employed by your IP to cause you to have a crash and then you can claim compensation!
Seriously though, I would speak to your IP to see if pain and suffering compensation would come to you. It was a car crash that started me on this illness 'journey'.

heh heh ... naughty AND dyslexic -- just re-read my post. Car crashes and ME don't go hand in hand .... can see ( and feel) I am getting over stretched. [|)]
