Hi
Can anyone give me examples of what they are allowed for food? We are a family of five, and one of our daughters follows a wheat and dairy free diet due to severe eczema, which means I have to buy different foods for her(usually more expensive). We currently spend around £650 per month, which includes all household stuff too.(Lightbulbs, batteries, most toiletries, newspapers etc)
Is there a suggested amount per head for the weekly supermarket shop?
By the way, this does not include school dinners/school milk which is another £90 per month.
Many thanks

Hi Helhan
We have an allowance of £200 for the two of us per month, it was a bit higher than suggested due to the fact that we have some dieteary requirements, but was accepted, your company should advise you on a sensible amount, if there are special requirements these should be included as with school meals etc.
Hope this helps.

Hi Helhan

It should not be a case of what you are "allowed" but what you actually spend. Your budget of £650 per month for housekeeping can be more than justified - make sure your IP explains your daughter's dietry requirements.

In my proposals, I show school dinners separately under "School and Educational Expenses". Hopefully your own IP will do the same.

Hi
This is one of the most important parts of the IVA process. You MUST get this right otherwise you will struggle and most probably fail your IVA.You need to cut out any luxury items and non essential items from your shopping but personally the most important thing is to list ALL living expenses. It is easy to forget dentist and other health related items and to underestimate car expenses.
There have been many posts on this forum from people struggling a few months into their IVA because the disposible income that they thought that they had was infact too high because
I can,t stress enough the importance of getting this right.
