I'm 33 years old, support Staines Town and Man Utd and live with my very understanding but Chelsea supporting partner and the very handsome Harry Puss! I was 65k in debt and entered an IVA in October 2006, which failed in February 2007 as I said that I could pay more than I actually could afford. I made myself bankrupt on 29th March 2007. (For the full story, please see my blog) Don't get me wrong, IVA's are great for some people............... a REALISTIC iva has great advantages and will allow you peace of mind and protection while you pay back what you can afford to your creditors........... so please keep asking questions - it's how we all learn!

Its sad to see what debt has done to each and everyone of us, our stories, how each one of us would love to turn the clock back, well we can’t, but............................ its lovely to see how each of us have grasped a new meaning in our life of debt, and in the same respect we have made an alliance together to help one another to get through it, good luck to us all, we will get there one way or another. After failing to get an IVA accepted I have now petitioned successfully for bankruptcy and was actually congratulated by the judge for facing up to my responsibilites!! I will offer advice and support in any aspects i can, although i don't confess to having all the answers.
Hubby was in an IVA which was completed successfully in december with a Full and Final settlement 3 years in.
I came to this forum like a jibbering wreck but now i and many others are proof that there is light at the end of the debt tunnel.

I have been employed full time in Insolvency since 1980 and have held an insolvency license since 1991. I am currently Insolvency Director of Personal Debt Helpline in Didsbury, South Manchester, the core activity of which is providing Personal Insolvency Solutions i.e IVAs, Debt Management, remortgages etc and advice about Bankruptcy. I have been in the employ of a half dozen or so IP's since 1993. Some I would highly recommend and are very reputable but a couple I feel ashamed to mention on my CV.
Needless to say only the learnings from the reputable will be shared on this site!
I will try to offer an independent and unbiased view wherever possible, whilst at the same time telling it like it is.
