I live with my very understanding partner and the very handsome Harry Puss and I was 65k in debt when entered an IVA in October 2006. The IVA failed in February 2007 as I said that I could pay more than I actually could afford so I made myself bankrupt on 29th March 2007. (For the full story, please see my blog)

Hi, I'm 37, married and live in Liverpool. I sold my restaurant to offer a full and final IVA which was accepted. I had just over £90k of debt, (£240k if you include my Dad!. Hubby was made redundant in December and still hasn't found work, and I'm pregnant with our first child. I am here to offer support and any advice I can to all who need it. I am a divorced Mother of four, three of whom are diagnosed with ASD. I got into debt after having to move house to accomodate the needs of my children. I felt very black and ashamed of the situation. I came to the forum in 2006, quite desperate and I was helped to feel better and get something done about it all. Since then I have remained a member and tried to reach out to other people who find themselves in the same black, hopeless place where I once was. I feel that debt makes people extremely vunerable and can lead to self esteem, marriage and relationship problems, its also very isolating. I feel its important that this vunerability doesnt force people to make the wrong choices when it comes to a solution.

I will offer advice and support in any aspects i can, although i don't confess to having all the answers.
Hubby was in an IVA which was completed successfully in december with a Full and Final settlement 3 years in.
I came to this forum like a jibbering wreck but now i and many others are proof that there is light at the end of the debt tunnel.

I've been supporting my hubby through his IVA journey. Unfortunately, the IVA failed and he has now been declared bankrupt. I hope to be able to give advice on our experience along with being on hand with employment law advice - as I am an experienced HR Manager.

My forum name is Size 5, my real name is Mike Morgan. I work for Abacus Finance, part of the ClearDebt group in Manchester, and have 10 years experience in the debt advice industry. I can advise you on IVA's, Debt Management Programmes, Trust Deeds and Repossessions. I have been employed full time in Insolvency since 1980 and have held an insolvency license since 1991. I am currently Insolvency Director of Personal Debt Helpline in Didsbury, South Manchester, the core activity of which is providing Personal Insolvency Solutions i.e IVAs, Debt Management, remortgages etc and advice about Bankruptcy. I also have extensive experience in Corporate Insolvency, particularly Liquidations and Corporate Voluntary Arrangements. I pride myself on having been the first person in the North West to pass the Joint Insolvency Examination (in 1990).

i am married with three grown up children...we have had struggles with debt for many years and tried all sorts of "ways out" until we reached the end of the line in 2006....we applied for and were approved for an IVA in sept 2006 .....
my main expertise on the forum is encouraging those who post to keep pressing on with their journey to get free from debt ...i especially enjoy the blog section and currently moderate the blogs and review them monthly and choose the award winners...so check out the blog section for "real life" stories

I have been in the employ of a half dozen or so IP's since 1993. Some I would highly recommend and are very reputable but a couple I feel ashamed to mention on my CV.
Needless to say only the learnings from the reputable will be shared on this site!
I will try to offer an independent and unbiased view wherever possible, whilst at the same time telling it like it is.
