I live with my very understanding partner and the very handsome Harry Puss and I was 65k in debt when entered an IVA in October 2006. The IVA failed in February 2007 as I said that I could pay more than I actually could afford so I made myself bankrupt on 29th March 2007. Hi my name is Paul and I live in Scotland. My wife and I are currently part way throught a protected trust deed(the scottish version of an IVA)after getting into about £80k of debt. I was sure I was in control, switching credit cards around etc which was fine until I left the armed forces and had to take a 40% pay cut. Through this forum I have learned a massive amount about insolvencies UK wide and am here to help.

I will offer advice and support in any aspects i can, although i don't confess to having all the answers. Hubby was in an IVA which was completed successfully in december with a Full and Final settlement 3 years in. I came to this forum like a jibbering wreck but now i and many others are proof that there is light at the end of the debt tunnel. I am the wrong side of 50, but still think I am 18 :-) Second to marrying my wife and having my children enetring an IVA has been one of the best things I have done. Not only has it started me on the road to sorting my finances, it has given me a more stress free life and an appreciation for "real" money over plastic !!!

Our IVA started in 2007 when we owed £73000 to 15 creditors....paying back £1300 a month we concluded our IVA with a F&F in November 2010....although now debt free, we continue to live life as if we were still in an IVA and enjoy the challenge of saving rather than spending ! I want to support all forum users through their IVA journey and hope that my comments, suggestions will help you along the way !

I am a stay at home mum with 2 little boys & the husband works full time. We are in debt of just over 15,000 and have no assets to protect but want to repay what we can. I love this forum & I am here to help as much as I feel I can. My knowledge of IVAs is growing & this forum is an amazing support to those in a IVA or thinking of entering one. This forum is my lifeline, I would not be this far in our IVA without it. I sat for months being scared to post when I found the forum, so if your me right now, jump in, we are a friendly bunch! Hi my name is Ronnie,i live in teesside,i have 3 children and live with my partner.over the last decade my debts spiralled,i consolidated them with interest free credit cards and low interest loans, but found i could,nt sustain the minimum payments.i contacted national debtline out of desperation, they introduced me to payplan where i set up a iva.after 42 months a family member offered my creditors a lump sum to conclude my iva which was accepted.having experienced a heavy debt problem i feel i can help people to move forward from a desperate situation which i was in.

I have been helping people with their debts for the last 9 years and being a trained counsellor I am only too aware of the difficult feelings that suffering with debt can cause, especially when the debt is a hidden shame. Being a Debt Advisory Manager with Melanie I am often the first person someone speaks to when they ring up for help so I know how difficult making that call can be.
