I would like to treat my wife by taking her to see her sister in Paris around the Easter break.
Can anyone tell me the cheapest method of getting there and/or any money saving tips related to a week in France.
My wife hasnt seen her sister for nearly 2 years and i would love to be able to surprise her,even if i have to cycle to work for the next few months to save my fuel allowance?
Any ideas or tips welcome please?

No idea what would be the cheapest, but trawl the internet and you might find some bargains.

Don't forget that prices will rise at Easter.

Aw thats such a lovely thought. I have only ever been via a package my sister did and then my mum and sister sorted out by surfing the net. it may be cheaper to do everything seperately unless you can get last min deal which of course means waiting til the last moment.

Might be best to work it backwards, look at which airport you want to go from and then what flights leave from there. Then go look at their sites for deals on flights. Booking a while in advance might make it cheaper. I assume if you going to see the sister that you will be staying with her so that will be somewhere to stay. if not ask the sister if there is a B&B nearby or somewhere she can recommend that is cheap enough. Obviously the sister has to be in on the surprise otherwise she might not be there when you get there !!!

Thankyou everyone.We will be staying with my wifes sister just outside of Paris.
I just wanted to be able to Thank her for being supportive to me and my situation.
Its a pain because any holiday i take has to be when schools are on holiday because what do you know i work in a school!!
Annoys me about price increases during these times but its not going to change so just have to get on with it.
Have started the cycling to work at just 1/2 days a week.18 mile round trip so not sure i want to do it everyday but it all helps and also good for me???
I will begin trawling the net and hopefully something will appear?

Was going to say maybe the coach and ferry or seacat would be the cheapest way across?? I know a certain coach firm is often cheaper when booked in advance.

If you book the eurostar the first day tickets become avialable (4 months in advance) it is possible to get them for £69 return, you need to be quick though, and if you don't live near London the train fare to London can work out more expensive than eurostar. Eurolines coaches from victoria used to be quite cheap about £30 return, that was a while ago though. Also Ryanair, if they fly from your local airport,and you book during one of their taxes free sales, however the paris airport is not exactly in Paris, about a 2hour trip away and flights around school holidays are usually excluded.
