Just had a nice leter from the bank advising me they think my debit card has been used fraudulently. Well guess what.. it has!!!
I've just spent lots of money at O2!! as well as a few test transactions for a £1.
End result, I'm cardless and skint till my new one arrives! I can't even dispute the transactions officially till I get a statement!

Well done to your bank for picking this up. This is how these fraudsters start - with small transactions that people rarely pick up, and then they go for the big sting. Tedious about the wait for the new card though.
you poor thing, I hope youre OK. Never use the cards at petrol stations, several people mentioned these are sometimes the source of ID theft. Are you going to be OK waiting for your card to arrive? I really hope so.

I had this a few years ago with my Lloyds TSB Visa. I'd used it to pay a bill over the phone, and the next thing I knew my card was £500 over limit and I had spent money at everyone of the mobile operators and all over the country as well!
Got my money back, but could never prove who had done it.

I hope they sort this out quickly for you. Speak to the bank if you cant get any money, it happened to a firend of mine and the bank did give her some money back to tide her over whilst being sorted.

Although it's annoying I'm just glad they caught it so quick really. Hopefully a new card will arrive as quick. I mainly only use it for the supermarket at weekend and rarely have cash on me anyway!

I think it's got something to do with my pc though. I downloaded a program a few weeks ago which put lots of rubbish on it. I’ve cleaned up some of it but still got major problems.
I’ve avoided logging onto my bank as I don’t trust it but paid for something online last week without thinking!!
Norton hasn’t picked up anything but then it’s been out of date for a year as re-newel is classed as a luxury!

I also had this with C1 a few yrs back, I noticed a few betting transactions but the money was put straight back in so my balance remained the same.
I phoned C1 and they said that it must be a few incorrect transactions hence the money being reimbursed straight away.
What it actually was that 'whoever' was putting on bets online, then putting the stake straight back in hoping that I wouldn't notice as the balance was still the same.
I told C1 to put a block on my card which they did and then the following day they told me that someone had placed a bet for the full amount available on my card.
I guess that they were testing the water with a few small amounts at 1st then if it wasn't noticed, go in for the kill and bet/take the lot.
Fortunately as it was a C,C. it wasn't 'my' money so I wasn't out of pocket while waiting for a new one to arrive but I can imagine your nightmare as its your actual debit card.
For us in an IVA it backs up the reason for having a prepaid card with the minimum amount on it for petrol and the like.
I tend to load money on a Monday and use it for petrol on a Friday so that theres nothing on it except what I need.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune Pixie, at least Lloyds were on the ball. If you are not allowed to update your Norton antivirus, can I suggest you download a free programme called Spybot (I only download such files from CNET.com)it is very good and will rid your computer of adware tracking cookies etc. I am sure you will find reviews of the programme online. It not only detects theses programmes it immunizes your comp from them even getting on it. Worth a try.
