WE used to get excited at christmas but with my son well he just took it in his stride. Waited patiently and sometimes forgot it was christmas morning. It used to be just him & me in them days. But even now he's not as excited as the others. Sensible lad, dunno where he got it from[:D].(His dad being the irrisponsible one.)He is always polite and responsible. Mature beyond his years though he does do teenage things. Like go down the pub at 17. He looks more like 21.

Back to the op, perhaps I should give a bit more info.
You only have to offer once to place a wanted ad, but ANYONE can respond to an offered ad. I am staggered by what people are giving away..three piece suites just 4 years old, computers, televisions, books, even a clarinet the other day... All you have to do is collect it.

Many, many people are giving away kids clothes and toys, which for me is great as I have two mini angels under the age of 3.

It is also woth remembering that there are always those worse off than ourselves who may very well need what we may think of as being useless...or have another need for them. I have seen an old lady near me using an old buggy to put newspapers in for her paper round.

I will still stick to Ebay to buy and sell stuff, otherwise it goes to charity.

I've just managed to buy a brand new T shirt and Gola track suit bottoms, all with tags, for well under a tenner for a birthday present.

If they donate something for free do you if you want it have to give them something too or is it a case of you give it & look for things you want off other people?

I believe you have to donate something as well.

Hi All

Just thought I would say I am a regular free-cycler. Recently we had a huge clear out. I work as a volunteer at a Cancer Research shop and there are things that charity shops can't take or won't take. So freecycling is good for passing on stuff you don't need or use anymore. Also some things are just not worth trying to sell on ebay as there is no money in it. I have gifted a guitar, tent, trampoline etc. All stuff which I tried to sell but didn't get bought. But it was nice to gift them to families that really needed them. There can be some very rude people on my local freecycle who apply for everything and demand your address!! But you just seive the responses out and gift to the genuine ones - or try to find the genuine ones. It has been rare I have requested anything but I did get a lovely carpet Vax cleaner the other day which I could never ever have afforded. My laddy decided to make pretty patterns down the stairs with his medicine - ahhhhh or AHHHHH!! And it is soooo sticky. So I was so grateful to get the Vax. If I am gifted something I always take a little gift round - I like gardening so I usually take them a china plant pot with some nice plants - which I grow and have loads of pots collected over the years so cost me nothing but my time. It is a good little community and if you do see something you really want or need it is a huge blessing to not have to pay for it. But you don't have to offer anything at all in order to apply for anything. It is totally your choice.

There's an old zen saying 'Only an empty bowl can be filled'. It means that the moment you think you have nothing left is the moment when growth and progress become inevitable. Everytime you see an empty bowl, think of the potential.

The latter. People post an offered ad and if you want it is yours. totally, utterly, absolutely FREE.

You only have to offer something if you place a wanted ad and then only the once.

Just got to big up Freecycle again...picked up a 3 year old triple wardrobe with full length mirrors and drawers and nothing wrong with it - all for free!!
We were in dire need of a wardrobe after the cheapy canvas one collapsed and this has been a real God send. They are going to ring us when they replace their bedside tables as the ones they have at the moment match our new wardrobe and they are getting some to match their new ones!!!

All really FABBO!

Woooo! Had an asbolute stunner of a deal from Freecycle again. A treadmill worth £1300 was given away as the belt was slipping. £3.65 spent on a new drive belt and it is as good as new. I actually feel a little guilty it was such a cheap fix and that they had given it away thinking it was in need of a costly repair.
