Howdy,
If the DRO plan were around 10 years ago how many wouldn't have been on it. That might nip and tuck the debt problem then before the need for a bigger IVA plan or bankruptcy.

I hail the DRO plan to deal with debt.It not quite an SIVA but will solve the problem of indebtedness....[EARLY ON]....a break through.

Very true Size5. Hadn't thought of it like that.

Presumably money loaned from loan sharks would be included as well. That might get rid of a few of them if they are named and shamed.

I do wonder what the finance world will look like without any customers (as so many people becomes a bad credit risk). I can't see the next generation falling for the levels of debt we did

I don't class £23,000 as a low income.

The comments weren't intended to offend and the DRO is aimed at those on low incomes.

Easily offended then eh??

I am on 17k a year. I dont consider that low either but wouldnt be offended if someone who earned 60k a year thought I was a low earner. Its all relative surely??
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.

The DRO is primarily aimed at low income families, and is designed for those who have less than £50 disposable income after household bills have been paid and have less than £15,000 debt.

That's why I thought I would put an apology on earlier in the thread in case anyone thought I was having a go.

I was on 23k until this morning and I'm not offended! Seriously, as PD says it's all relative. What's a lot to someone isn't much to someone else.

to me it dosent matter how low or how high your income is, you know what your doing when your getting in to debt and no special treatment for any one.

When my debts were bad i was jealous of people on low income or benfits, but didnt have debts, they struggle for weeks months and years and dont get debt and yet they were better of than me because i had debts and they didnt and my hats of to them, their is parents out their on low income who miss meals etc and their children come first but they dont get debt, we could all learn lessons from them

For some very low income families, whose children fall into the child poverty net, sometimes debt is a necessity just to make sure their kids have school uniforms and decent shoes to wear.

Yes James, you do know what you're doing when you get into debt, but for some people there isn't a way of stopping it, especially the way things are at the moment. It's not always as clear cut as you seem to think.
