At long last I have been able to sit down and think about arranging a venue for the above event, which will be our last outing of the year and one which I hope will be popularly attended given the central location.

I have tried the two hotels suggested by Aguise and only one is available and can accomodate our party, but the room cost is £59 for a single room and £69 for a double. I wonder whether that is going to be too much for people to pay at that time of the year - so feedback will be most welcome.

I am also still trying the Paragon hotel, which is only £55 for a double room and I think looks quite nice, although I think a couple of people thought it was not in a very nice area. But it has plenty of bedrooms and parking spaces.

Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas to share at the moment?

i dont know anything about birmingham...so cant recommend or comment on the ones you mention...we would make the effort and find the money as we would really want to come and def. need to stay over as too far to travel back...so if it costs that then it will be found.!!...so for us....happy to go with the flow....re the one you mentioned isnt in that nice an area...it wouldnt be my first choice as i do tend to get a bit wary in dodgy areas...

The area that it is in hadn't used to be a nice area, but it has probably changed now, it used to be very industrial with lots of back to back houses, I imagine they will have gone.

It's about a 10-15 minute taxi ride from New Street Station.

You'd be ok MTL. Either drive there or taxi from the station. You wouldn't be walking in the area.

I'm going to as Aguise and Steve if they will go and have another look - the website makes it look very nice, and at the end of the day it is the company and good cheer which makes the occasion and not the surroundings. I've just been looking at the Christmas menu on its website and it sounds lovely - and of course all eats and drinks are covered by the sponsors so you just have to get yourselves there and stay over - in great company. A really good start to the festive season.

It does look a nice hotel, and at least there is parking, which most of the city centre ones don't have, or they are really expensive.

A taxi shouldn't be too expensive either for those arriving by train.

ooops!!!!!!!I got my hotels mixed up - I was thinking it was the one in Aston.

Don't know how far away from the station the Paragon is.

Ang - see my other post. I have now booked a hotel in Walsall - I hope it will be OK and the website looks really nice.

Was wondering where you were! Hope you had a nice time and look forward to seeing you both tomorrow.
