I used to catch the train home from New Street when I worked in Birmingham, and you used to see them all the time taking pictures (I think they have progressed from the notebooks!) and then rushing to another platform.

Also, the Midlands has what was (and maybe still is), the largest marshalling yard in Europe. I would see them there all the time, and when they weren't looking at those, they would go up the nearby steps which led to the side of the motorway and watch the cars!!!!!
