Mine used to be long and straight but is very fine. Got fed up and had it cut. Used to colour it as well but now it's back to its natural colour as I couldn't afford to pay for that anymore.

Quite surprised that as I am mid 50's there is hardly any grey in there!

Mine's really long and naturally curly but I straighten it every day....I hate the curls. If it's hot out or I get caught in the rain, it increases in size by about 500%![:0] X

Mine is naturally wavy and I straighten it every day, even though I know it's bad for it. Harry doesn't help as if he's sitting near me he'll rake his claws through it as if he's combing it! I'll have some explaining to do to the hairdresser tomorrow"

I got my GHDs from Ebay - they were about £30 cheaper than in the shops.

Be careful about buying GHD's from ebay, many of them are fake. I watched a programme on Channel 4 advising how much ebay stock is fake and with a pair of jeans ..hey you win some you lose some...but with straighteners - not worth the risk, it is after all your hair and home. Some may not be completely safe, they may overheat etc

Sorry to be so down on this. I use ebay loads but would probably not buy straighteners off there.

I've got really ancient straightners and they still do the job, I really would like to try the GHD's though, not sure what diffeence they make.X

I actually bought mine from a shop on Ebay rather than a private seller. They've got over 20000 feedback, 99.9% positive so I felt quite confident buying from them. I am wary about buying things on Ebay, but if it's something like straighteners or my iPod (which also came from Ebay) I tend to buy from a shop.

Yes I agree skip I would only buy fom a shop for something like that.
Vicki if they work for you then who cares how old they are, I haver such awkward hair it takes a high temo to straighten it and then a bit of damp air and it goes back all horrible again. I am wearing it up a lot at home saves keep straightening it.

The GHDs also come with a serial number so that you can check with the manufacturer that they are genuine.

The only reason I've got GHDs is because they seem to be the only straighteners that get hot enough to straighten my hair! It's not tight curls, but it's got such a strong wave nothing else works.

Ang, I once tried those straightners that you can use when your hair is wet....crikey, my hair nearly fell out! I have really dry hair so I don't need to wash it every day. When I go to the hairdresser I try to make it last for a week cause she get's it so straight and shiny![:0]

I tried those - they were awful and my hair felt like straw! My hair is highlighted as well as straightened, so I don't need any more damage!
