full and final settlement

hello i made an offer of full and final settlement and it was accepted and i paid them the money but till this date i have not had my certificate of completion when i ring to ask why they just keep saying it will be a couple more weeks but is there a time frame that all this should be done by i think its been about 7 weeks now. thanks for any info

Hi there. They generally allow a time frame of up to 6 months in the proposal. Some mange it within a few weeks, others have been known to go a year ( due to recent changes in PPI claims and VAT refunds).

A lot also depends upon how pro-active your IP has been in verifying and chasing claims from the creditors.

Ask them to give you a definite date by which time you can expect your case to be closed, together with the specific reasons which are currently keeping it open.
