Hi all, its been a while since i last posted, i was in the process of going to start an IVA, when a genourous family member offered to pay me £5,000 to clear some of my immediate debts.

4 months on i still have a float left, however i am now falling back to having a flutter online @ casino websites and feel that i will end up having sleepless nites again.

I am nowehre near clearing my desbts, but having the comfort of the money being available in my account is enough comfort for me.

Has anyone else in the forum heard of anyone with similar problems? I'm 26 yrs old and live with my parents.

Sorry to be posting something so trivial - i feel as though i have been battling it and somehow it has now taken a hold of me once again.

nathan

Cut up all your cards,or get someone to do it for you!!...Its soo easy to do stuff online with cards (ie gambling),but once you cant, its amazing how you think twice about everything you do !
just use cheques, cash to pay for things...might be tough...but its the only way..
(as most of us on here know, cards dont feel real)
And just think how dissapointed your family will be when you have to admit you have blown THEIR money gambling online!!

i used to play alot of poker online, luckily tho when i stopped playing i left it 900 dollars up - took the money out and stopped playing.

the reason i stopped playing was i used to come home from the pub and play on my laptop in bed, until i feel asleep one nite and woke up with my bed quilt on fire.

no damage done other then needing a new quilt, a bunr on my leg and a shagged laptop...

a lesson learnt for me there. not played online since and at least that 900 dollars - 450 pounds got me a new laptop.
lots of payments to go.

Hi Nathan,

You have received good advice from the other forum members. You need to think very carefully if you want to go into an IVA or not. If you do the creditors & I.P will want to see that you have stopped this gambling activity completely.

Why did you not continue with the IVA and use the money your family gave you towards it?

Lenders must be assured of you the fact that you are kicking the G' habit to touch. If you can do that, you IVA should be assured.

Wether its gambling or shopping, both can be addictive and both are a debt. Remove temptation x

Hi Nathan, I got into a bit of a nasty habit with online bingo! I work shifts and I used to come home in the early hours at play online for a few hours. Trouble was it was so easy to just keep depositing money and not keep a track of it. I think the most I spent in one night was about £100 which when I saw my statement really shocked me, as i'd never walk into a bookies and hand that kind of money over. The website I was using had a tool that meant that you could "ban" yourself for 6 months - which I did. Some gambling websites have a facility that allows you to set yourself a weekly gambling limit too. It may help you if you look at a few websites - try the one below.

Online Gambling grrr... I have found a great poker website, its freeeeeee...You have to register on Facebook and then add the poker game, you can also play scrabble against others too, not sure how much it resembles a real poker game online but its addictive and best of all FREEEE!!!!

Hope this helps when you feel the need![:I]
