Choose to refuse didn't totally work for me.

As it happens, I took out BT Broadband and Broadband Talk and got a new phone number in addition to the original one (I just unplugged that one)

I just told everyone that we had done the broadband thing and had a new number.

Sorted.

Hey Herb that is exactly what we are doing right now. It is well worth the extra per month for the peace of mind. I like you google the number on who calls me, and then add it to the barred calls list if it is a creditor.

We have had peace ever since defaulting 10 weeks agao. Just waiting for our proposal to be drafted now by Melanie.

Gd luck.

I added the BT services to refuse withheld numbers and also the ability to block 10 numbers from contacting you.

Costs £5 a month ish but for me was well worth it. I simple didn't answer the phone , googled them and then added to the block once worked out who they were.

10 numbers I found is enough to do it and peaceful silence since.

Halifax constantly changed their numbers once they knew I had barred one.

It probably depends on how many creditors you have as well - we had eight originally so were constantly changing numbers on it.

You can change your phone number, doesn't cost and you can always tell friends and relatives that you have been having some dodgy calls late at night.

I personally changed our home phone number and then went through my entire contact list in my phone assigning the same ringtone to each contact. I then changed the default one to a dog bark, every time the dog barked it got ignored. I did eventually start answering the calls and all but MBNA have stopped ringing but MBNA are persistent and the dog bark is now being ignored again!
