Sorry, I need another whinge - I'm on a roll tonight!

I had my eyes tested in May, and got myself a new pair of glasses that I now love. The only problem is I had Reactions lenses put in, so they go dark when I'm outside. This would be ok, but they're not dark enough in bright sun, don't go dark when I'm in the car because of the UV filters in the windscreen and go dark when it's not sunny!

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to get 'normal' lenses put in the frames as I really don't want to get new frames now I've finally found a pair of glasses to suit me?

I really wish I hadn't gone for these and just got normal lenses in the first place!

interesting post skippy..i am due for a sight test on wednesday,,now i finally have enough in budget to get new glasses and i had planned on getting the reaction lenses...but after reading your experience i think i may just go for ordinary ones...sorry i cant be of more help...i may enquire at opticians
one of the things i cant decide on at mo ...is whether to just get new lenses in old frames...i would love new frames...but not sure yet how much they may cost....the frames i have are only 3 years old..nowt wrong with them really...but i would like a newer fashionable pair.!!!

I loved reactions when I wore glasses. Don't half notice the difference now I don't wear them anymore.

Vision Express aren't to expensive and as long as you have your prescription they can do them in a couple of hours

You can get your prescription from the last optician you used.

Can you just have lenses at Vision Express Ray? I would have thought it had to be the whole package from them?

Unless each shop is different Kalli, yes ... I had my last lot there as my optician would have taken a week and I have no spare pair.

why don't you email/google glassesdirect ,They seem very reasonable and I just go a new pair for £20.You never know you might get the same pair for a far cheaper price? Cat

I thought the reactions would be better than they are to be honest, but I still need sunglasses when I'm driving which is a pain. I really do want to keep the frames and as they cost me £150 4 months ago I want the cheapest option! I wish I'd gone for the 2 for 1 offer rather than the reactions!

I used Vision Express myself Ray when I wore specs. Trouble is, mine wasn't a straightforward prescription as I had reactions and they were also varifocal, so not cheap.

I always used to have the whole thing from there.

I have find vision express very expensive. I paid £195 for my glasses from there and then when i had to get some new ones found the same ones from a local place for £90

Does anyone know if they do a credit check for contact lenses on a monthly DD?

I was forced to cancel my DD with my old optician last year. He is quite a trek away from this new house anyway. He was also a bit of a misery guts to be honest. I have a small supply still but they will run out shortly.

There is a Spec savers in my town, I am scared if they do a credit check.

I don't think they do, but I couldn't be sure - could you ring them anonymously and ask?

I was with Specsavers for my contacts and they were very good - I paid £10 a month and got my lenses, solutions, money off glasses and check ups included. I don't wear lenses as much now and I have the daily disposables, but I might go back to the DD scheme as the disposables are £22 a month with no extras!

I phoned Specsavers and it'll cost £69 to have replacement lenses in my frames, so not too bad. I'm having my eyes tested again on Friday (I've been having a few problems with my glasses and contacts) and I'll get it sorted out then.
