Hello from me to. I am just going through the process of getting sorted with Melanies team and although you might see some of my posts and they look doom and gloom, I know that it is the right way to go and when I have built up my contingency we will probably have more money than we are used to because we kept paying off and putting on. This forum has been a god send and always someone with some useful advice.

Thanks all for support and help given

I have decided to go for a iva , still find it very scary but going to do it as i don't see i have any choice , i can't carry on living in this debt and struggling to make payments each month.

I have recieved all paperwork from company which is dealing with my iva application.

I opened a new bank account last wednesday as advised, but the thing is I havent got the bank account number yet , still waiting fior it so cannot change Direct debits or give work a new account for my wages .

iva company are pushing me to sign and fax forms back to them but I think I should wait until i have the new bank account and have sorted my direct debits and wages before i do that, am i right?

any advice please

Hey Mark, don't worry, sign your forms if you are ABSOLUTELY ready to do so then just wait for your account number. It will take a while for the IVA meeting to be sorted and I'm sure your bank details will come through this week. Viki X

Thanks Viki

The reason i am worried about the bank account is cos the iva company told me once they recieve the forms my bank account would be frozen within a week , [?]I dunno

yep I am sure i want to through with it [;)]

Mark, as Viki says don't sign your forms until you are sure they are correct and you are happy. I made the mistake of signing too quickly and by the time I'd realised the mistakes it was too late and my IVA had been approved.

Thanks Skippy

There are a few things wrong on the forms just made a list for when i phone them tomorrow

One thing is confusing me , they put down that my partner gives me £600 a month but it isnt that much. Also I do all the shopping so the money is also for food and household etc and only about £300 is for contribution towards the mortgage and utilities , so should only the amount for mortgage and utilities be down there as the rest is owed to me [?]

I'm not sure - I'm hopeless with figures which is one of the reasons I got into this mess!

On my proposal the company put down that I paid the mortgage of £560 and that my partner contributed £560 to the household. This meant that the £200 'rent' that I paid him wasn't taken into account and I was £200 short per month. How I didn't pick that up I'll never know - I think I just wanted to get the paperwork sent back as soon as possible.

Same here Skippy thats why I'm in a mess

Another thing is on the income and expenditure there is nothing about the amount it takes to keep 2 large dogs , about £100 a month with food and insurance I reckon that should be on there . I wasn't asked if i had any pets so thats why its not but i just thought about it, so should that be on there [?]

It sounds as though there are quite a few errors on the forms - it might be worth you getting a second opinion from another company. Are you with one of the big IVA providers? I was and I never got to speak to my IP (until I went BR!) - when I questioned a couple of errors in the proposal with a member of the admin staff I was told not to worry. They had put down I paid £40 a month for gas when we didn't have any, said I had 2 mobiles when I only had one and said I paid all the council tax when I only paid half! This made me feel uneasy, but I didn't do anything about it unfortunately.
