I am sorry i have to write this.

I have read so much in last 6 months about miss selling IVA,S, IPS trying to put payments up, you should go bankcrupt etc etc.

1 - An IVA can not be mis sold, you know what you are getting in to, you sign for it, the IP as to discuss other options with you including bankcruptcy but it is your choice

2 - i could argue the fact that in my situation i was ideal to go BR, but i wanted to show responsibilty abot my debt, no matter why i got in debt its my reponsibilty, my IP even rang twice before the creditors meeting to check i was ok with an IVA, it was my choice.

3 - Once in an IVA your IP as to do right by your creditors, but at the same time they dont want the IVA to fail and will work with you.

4 - i am not here to offer adivce on this subject but if you have no responsibilty to your crediots and nothing to loose then go BR, but dont use this forumn to have ago at IVAS.

I know i am ranting, but it does annoy me when people have ago about IVAS, this is not what this forum is about, its about helping each other out with advice and getting through the bad times which is what 99% of people do on here, and not to knock IVAs.

Without IVA's life would be alot more difficult for alot of us.

So i would like to make a pledge - any one who puts posts about basically knocking an IVA we dont answer them and hopefully people will stop doing this and using this forumn which i belive is why it was created - SUPPORT

Not everyone on here has the same ip . People get treated differently by different companies. Not everyone has a pleasant iva experience. Not all iva companies treat their clients properly so i think your comment is a bit unfair. Everyone should be able to use this site regardless.

i totally agree with you james,
you have to make the right decision for yourself and i am confident that an IVA is my
best approach as i feel that i should pay at least a proportion of it back.
The argument i would like to mention is that if you went BR the creditors would not get back nearly as much as someone who is paying most of their disposable income into an IVA and would be deemed virtually debt free in 1 year instead of the 60 months that an IVA proposes.
Why can't the credit reference agencies and creditors awknowledge those who go down the IVA route are much less a credit risk than someone who has gone BR as you are making monthly contributions rather than nothing.

Rachel

I do agree with you to a point.

An IVA is not a pleasant experince, if it was we wouldnt all be living on a budget, but its not their to be un fiar either.

May be i mis read your post, but i dont have a problem with my ip or the iva, but you have to agree some people (minority) do hit out at IVA.s when theirs no need to.

I have to admit their is some people who do have bad experinces with some ips/firms, its not what my post was about, it was about the people (th minority again) who just want to hit out at IVA.S

Thank you Andrew

I agree with the credit risk you mentioned.

Its also like once you have been in an IVA and completed it your credit rating should be better becuase you can prove after 5 years you can live and learnt to live on a budget

james.c -

I would just like to add that I agree with you - "mis-selling" is overdone. Anyone seeking a solution to their financial problems is an adult and is ultimately responsible for their own decision.

I think in days gone by before IVAs really "took off" in number - people could be swayed by "advisors" who did not have their best intersts at heart. But I think today - with so much - and such varied - information and advice around - (the best of which of course features on iva.co.uk!!!!) there is no real excuse for anyone to shout that they have been "mis-sold".
47 months completed - 13 months to go.
