Hi alex, the problem with DFD is, they are such a large firm and from what i read about them they take on thousands of new cases every month so communication with them is poor to say the least. Its very hard to speak to an adviser that has any kind of knowledge of your case.
You rarely get to speak to the same person twice and in our own personal experience we were told different things by different advisers every time we rang them.

If you have any queries that you would like to put to somebody at DFD, email your IP. You can get the address of the insolvency website under the heading "find an IP"
Now im not saying your IP will reply because again from personal experience the IPs dont like to talk to you.
On the plus side though, you will get a reply off a member of the IPs team (in our case telling us off for emailing the IP) and they will have more knowledge of your case and far more ability to answer your questions.

This is your IVA and you have the right to discuss it if you are not happy and you feel that it wasnt properly explained.

Martin Lewis website is great for switching balances or getting food cheap if you want to wait until 3 seconds before tesco reduce the bread because of its sell by date. I dont think that he knows enough about the debt industry to offer advice in this way. I am not a supporter of DFD or indeed a number of other well known factory type va's but i cannot believe that every VA is a bad deal or as a result of bad or inappropriate advice.

You really should measure your advice by looking at areas such as,
1) is your payment affordable
2) Was everything fully explained, clearly
3 are you better off now than when you were struggling to pay your debts ?
4) can you see a light a tthe end of the tunnel ?
5) did you fully understand this agreement and the terms and conditions ?

if not - as Mel said, complain, first through their internal complaints procedure but use the regulatory body if this does not get you anywhere.
