Awww My little Syra died today, she was killed outright by a car. I know its sad but in a way I am pleased she didnt suffer. At the end of the day she was almost dead when we found her just under two years ago at birth on our doorstep. Her mother was a stray and didnt have any milk. I raised her from that day. She had two years of happiness with us, she was never hungry or cold, there was always a free lap and lots of cuddles. She was full of spirit. She had a short but happy little life. We will miss her very much, she will rest in peace.

Goodnight little Syra, we loved you and will miss you.

Awwwwwwww Lili that is sooooooooo sad [:(]

I'm glad you can take comfort in how you rescued and nurtured Syra for the past 2 yrs. She was really blessed to have found you and you know her short life was a very very happy one.

Hope the children are dealing with this loss okay..

Love to you all xx

I'm so sorry Lily. I know it's no comfort at the moment, but at least you gave her 2 years of love and happiness.

RIP Syra xxx

Lily - I am so sad to hear your news. I hate reading of the loss of pets - they are such a large part of the family, and I always have a quiet sob.

I remember your posts when you found her, and the pictures you posted on the forum, it does not seem that long ago. She was taken far, far too soon, and I really wish drivers would be more careful when driving fast on country roads.

Knowing you, I am sure it will not be too long before there is another kitty in your lives. God bless to you all.

Lily I am so sorry to hear your sad news.

As you say, she didn't suffer so that was a blessing and at least you have closure by knowing where she is.

RIP Syra.

Thank you so much.

We have thought about asking for a slow down sign or something, its national speed limit but there are four houses here. I have only been here 5 minutes and I dont want to make waves. I will ask about this though.

To be honest I think the driver did try to stop in time but she just ran from the field opposite. The man driving was really upset, a doctor by chance, there were three of them in the car, they carried the cat to us (my son saw it all) and stayed with her until her heart stopped. As soon as I saw her I knew that she could not survive those injuries. I still cannot get that picture out of my head.. (a stiff drink is in order I am feeling). The Doc was so upset, he is a cat owner and lover himself and was so sorry, he made sure the boys were OK and there was someone to help me bury her. He was so upset his friend and to drive for him. Although it sounds daft, if she had to go, I am glad she went quick.. I am so glad that the guy cared enough to stop, held her and comforted her until she went. Although she wouldnt have known anything, she died in caring and loving arms.

Thanks again, she is already sadly missed.

That is so sad Lily.

At least he was a caring driver who stopped.

It doesn't sound daft - it is best if they go quickly rather than suffer and she was surrounded by people who loved her, and people who cared.

Run Free in the Summerlands Syra..

I'm so pleased it was quick. My Jasper was hit by a car years and years ago now by a driver who didn't stop and he fought so hard for hours before slipping away. I still miss him and think of him. It was a good 5 years or so before I could even consider another cat. I won't say replacement as they are so different.

I agree AR, you can never replace an animal as they are all have different personalities.

My pet insurance pays out 'the purchase price of your pet so that you can get a replacement.' That is one thing I would never claim for, as they are irreplaceable.

Thanks very much, no I wont be replacing her at all, she was special to me. I was her Mummy from birth and she adored me. I am glad it was very quick for her but I wasnt prepared for such an horrific sight and I cant even know how to get over it. I dont want to see the others like that but I want them to be free. We are just talking about if we want to keep the others or let them go to someone else.

I am not too sure if this is her or her brother scrappy doo. Although we are all very sad right now that she is gone, I am glad that I had her, glad that we allowed her to live freely. We are getting a tree today and a statue to remember our little Syra.

Thanks for the kindness, I really appreciated it.

I hope you didn't think I was suggesting you'd replace her Lily, I didn't mean it like that at all.

The tree and the statue is a nice idea, something to remember her by, not that you ever forget - I can remember every cat, dog and rabbit I've ever had.

I can understand why you'd think of letting the others go, but please don't rush into it. Could they be house cats? When we had the problem with Harry and the neighbours I seriously thought about it.

Lots of love to you all xxxxxxx

Oh no Skippy, please dont think that. I know that you wouldnt ever say anything to make me feel any worse. You are just not that kind of person.

I wanted a statue to stand where we had buried her. A tree to show she wasnt just a cat she was a part of our family and should have grown with us.

I dont want to part with Cole, you know how much I adore him. I dont want to see him like that. Its the black and white situation with the boys, thats the only way they see to save their feelings. We havent decided yet.

Thanks very much for the thoughts and the kind words.

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your cat Lily - you must be absolutely devastated..

Although it certainly sounds as if the 2 years she shared with you were full of nothing but love, happiness and contentment..

Thinking of you all, and sending lots of love and best wishes. Take care xxx
