Hi All

This is a rent as well as needing some advice.

In my previous posts I have mentioned that my flat mate was battling with the local council over back rent which they did not pay from July to December 2006 due to their ineptness (4 application forms were filled in during this time all lost even though last 2 were handed in personally). This is still on going via CAB now. They started paying Jan. As I was the primary on the joint tenenacy I had to make up the shortfall which I used my bonus to do so owe half of this to my IVA. IP is okay with this.

TODAY, she received an letter from our landlord stating that the council have said they are not paying from 21st May 2007 onwards and to ask her about it. She has received nothing regarding this and cannot contact them via telephone as they don't offer this servcie anymore. She spoke to CAB who are chasing it up. In the meantime however the landlord, understandibly, wants me to make the full rent payment this month for both of us as he has no confidence in the council system either. I cannot afford to do this with my IVA.

If I spoke to my IVA regarding this how would it look? I cannot guarantee she will see this money from the council so I can't justify paying it. I also do not want to be evicted from something that is neither of our faults.

Any suggestions?

Sorry for going on. I'm extremely frustrated.

Hello
I work for a local council and i know that benefit claims are normally cancelled if no review forms are recieved back. Has your flatmate completed their review form?

Hi Zoe

I've just asked her and se hasn't received anything. How often are these reviews carried out?

Higher level Incapacity Benefit and through this she gets part of her council tax and rent paid.

She will probably have had a rise in April, everyone does, if the council have not been informed of this then they will sent letters to find out why - i would suggestyou ring them and speak to them

Thanks for the advice.

I have relayed the message.

Good luck on 21st. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Happy anniversary too.
