Hello Again
Approaching the final hurdle, creditors meeting arranged for 17th April, nerves really kicking in now, nothing to do but wait and pray [88][88][88]
In the meantime most of my creditors are leaving me alone, except, MBNA and HFC Bank.
MBNA have sent me four letters listing all the disadvantages of an IVA and advising me to pay them a mutually agreed lump sum payment, the only problem is where do I get the lump sum from and what about my other creditors [?][?][?] , forwarded all their letters to Grant Thornton [:u][:u][:u]
HFC Bank keep ringing me demanding a payment, I keep telling them, going for an IVA, IP is Grant Thornton, etc, etc, they just don't seem interested. I had a guy on the phone yesterday, he told me, 'if only one creditor votes against the IVA, it will not go through', I told him, thats not true, it has to be >25% by value voting against, he said 'that's nonsense, I know better than you I'm dealing with IVA's every day', I told him, 'why don't you phone Grant Thornton' and tell them they are giving me incorrect information', he said he didn't need to do that because he was right [V][V][V]. He then went on to say, 'even if the IVA is approved, interest and late charges continue to be added for 3 months after the approval date', once again I told him, 'you are giving me incorrect information', at this point he said, 'look are you making a payment or not, because if you don't I can't be held responsible for the consequences', at this point I politely told him I wasn't prepared to continue the conversation, 'what will be, will be on the 17th April', and I hung up.[}:)][}:)][}:)]
It just shows what lengths some of these companies will go to to squeeze a payment, I would not have known this guy was giving me incorrect information had it not been for this forum, it's good to read all the experts comments, it has been a great help and comfort to me for the last 6 weeks, thank you one and all.
15 days and counting to Creditors Meeting [:-(][:-(][:-(]
IVA COMPLETED ON THE 17th MARCH, FINAL I&E COMPLETED 26th APRIL, COMPLETION CERTIFICATE ARRIVED 2nd AUGUST

Hi Northumbrian

Isn't it great that all of you unfortunate people who are having to deal with these calls are able to share information via the forum. This is something that IP's generally are really unable to help with - let's face it you are going to get those letters and calls regardless of what I and my fellow practitioners say, but at least you can get on here and share that information, and confidence with other people who are not coping with the pressure as well as you are.

Good luck with your meeting.

First of all good luck with your meeting on the 17th,you have done all you can now.
Isn,t that appalling fron HFC,totally wrong info and as you say what about people who do not use this forum and would not know any different.I suppose in retrospect it would be good to ask these people to put what they are saying in writing, bet they,d soon shut up.
You did well to stick to your guns because I think you,ll have the last laugh.
I really hope so
Regards

Well done.

I've had exactly the same from MBNA - they just won't listen. I just stick to my guns every time and it's them that get wound up not me.

Find it quite funny really!!

Hello,

Once again congratulations on sticking to your guns and not being intimidated by these calls and letters. You have definitely done the right thing. Did you take the name of the caller from HFC?

I hope that you are successful on the 17th. Please let us know how the meeting goes.

Also had the Benifits of a reduced payment plan versus IVA letter from MBNA, saying this is a limited offer and I must act immediately. On the one hand I'm told I must seriously consider the implications of an IVA and think carefully but give no thought to the alternative just accept because its a limited offer. With their offer I can clear my debts between 5 and 10 years they say, I don't think so.
