How do I do that please Mel? I regularly contact GT via email with IVA Forum in the subject but I never get contacted by Karol.

You are using the right route - hopefully Karol will see this post in the morning and give you a safer means of communication to her.

Hopefully, Komakino, the fabled mass variation will have been undertaken by the time you finish and closure will be independent of any ongoing PPI investigation and claims.

Hi, can I just point out that we filled in our PPI claim forms....I thought it was a waste of time as I had never asked for PPI. To my surprise I have now found out that I did indeed have PPI on two credit cards which were obviously done without my knowledge and permission!! So it may be possible that there is PPI on credit that you were unaware of.

Hi,
1st time here...so Hi!

My husband and I are due to make final payment of our IVA in September 2013 which will be 72 months!
Our IP is Grant Thornton too and we were told before Christmas that we have to go through this PPI check. We told them we had already done this ourselves and no monies were due (as we suspected!)They said they would send us a disclaimer which we had to sign and send back... we waited and waited and nothing forthcoming.. 3 weeks ago we were chased for the form so my husband explained that we hadn't received this and was told that the chap from GT would chase it up. Today we have had a phone call basically saying we have no choice but to do it as it's part of our T&C's ... I can't believe this is right as it only mentions lottery wins, inheritance and the like which I don't believe PPI falls under the same category of a windfall as no-one even knew about all this PPI when we took our IVA out! We were told that the rukles changed in January (convenient!) and we will not get a disclaimer to sign now. I've not had a letter to say my T&C's have been updated to include this ... do I HAVE to let them go delving or can I stand my ground?? It surely is my decision if I want to pursue claiming back monies that I may (or in my case may not) have paid long before I took out the IVA. I don't believe I am legally bound to do this but please correct me if I'm wrong!
Any help / advice on this would be appreciated!
Whilst I appreciate the creditors want as much back from us as possible I can't help but feel that this is just jumping on the PPI bandwagon and they are changing the goal posts to suit themselves.
Thaks in advance

our hands are tied at the moment unfortunately with this PPI issue. The problem I'm having with this is that they've insisted since December that I must sign the forms yet they won't send them to me.

A cynical person would say that maybe they're delaying sending them to me on purpose in order to eke things out? The window left open for windfalls etc is a valuable window...

Do you know what, i'd tell them that your are going to claim them yourself and see what happens then!

This is nothing short of appalling customer service and they aren't the only firm at it, does make you wonder if they are waiting for something to happen at the mo!
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

I am in the same boat waiting for paperwork. How long does it take, let's say there are a few thousand. That would take a few days max to send out, not weeks!!!!!!!!

You have the right to claim your ppi yourselves and keep your IP in the loop, won't pay any fees etc, more money for the IVA, make sure you have enough to pay back the VAT on the interest. It would be very interesting to see what they would do if you said, 'you've taken so long to send out the authorisation pack, i'll shall take this matter forward and claim myself'! I bet that you will receive your pack tootsweet!

I have actually turned down PPI claims companies recommended by GT and done it all myself.
Go to http//www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
or http//www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-c ... -insurance
You can download template letters to claim yourself it is very easy to do. Good luck.

That sounds good but for most of us it will depend on where they are in the process. Have you paid last payment, if so when.

For me I'm worried that if I choose to go with another PPI claims company and not theirs then GT will withold my CC for another year or more, what with queries etc. Their email was quite threatening in that I must sign and return the forms quickly in order to avoid delays. That really is quite antagonistic in that they are the ones causing the delays.

However if the muted variation allows for other PPI companies to be appointed by me then of course I will and pledge payments to the IP accordingly. It sounds as though EIC, their preferred company, is already not coping and not sending out forms or contacting debtors as apparently instructed to by GT.

However I also see other posters have said that they have been told that they cannot appoint their own PPI claims company in any case!

Once again limited or complete lack of information from GT is no surprise whatsoever.

IVA Victim12345, I have not paid my last payment I am on month 42/60, As orchid5 says you do have the right to claim PPI yourself cutting out the middle man taking his 30%+ cut therefore more money actally going into your IVA.
If you go to the site I posted earlier you will see the template letters for you to claim.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff. It sounds like that's a good move and GT will have run out of excuses not to issue your CC when you complete. Unfortunately for those of us awaiting CCs GT delayed and delayed our CCs until PPI did become an issue!

I doubt that we will have the option to choose our own claims agent as GT have us in their vice. Any dissention and they will simply refuse to co-operate and not issue a CC as part of the bulk variation.

I am at closure point and have received all documents from EIC but am not happy using them. It is not right they do credit checks without our permission and ask you sign a deceleration in advance for them to appeal any creditors decisions. I called earlier and after me 3 times refusing to sign the declaration they backed down and said I didnt have to return it. So I just called GT and explained I am not happy and they said I can use whatever company I want to as long as PPI is looked in to. Keep in mind EIC admitted to me last week they have thousands of claims and are sending them out in batches so we are probably looking at 3 + months to get a response. EIC will be calling me back later to discuss why I will not be using them apparantly! My last payment was September so you can use whoever you want aslong as you have not signed any declaration with EIC.
