My husband and I completed our IVA full and final in December 2011. We are still awaiting our completion certificate 8months on. I have contacted them on several occasions but their response is as always inadequate and they always seem to try to avoid giving a straight answer to a straight question.Grant Thornton from the start have been very disappointing and the customer service has been extremely poor. I would not recommend Grant Thornton to anyone.
I appreciate they may be busy with takeovers, however this should not have any bearing on service level agreements. if they are unable to provide service within agreed timescales then they should maybe think twice about taking on additional work as this is resulting in poor service. others are receiving their certificate att the moment within the 6 month timescale??
I will certainly keep on at them. For anyone thinking of taking up an IVA with Grant Thornton., my honest advice, stay away. The fees are astronomical and certainly do not reflect the service provided.
I have to admit GT closure team do reply to emails very quickly. I asked for an update and have opted out on the EIC, however I did ensure I got a reply in email stating that doing so my IVA would not be classed as a fail due to doing this. I am assured it will not and the closure will follow it's course. Waiting now for the opt out letter then send that back then wait some more then maybe just maybe I might get my CC in the post soooooooon !!!!

IVA Last Payment 01 Oct 2011
My last payment was last year in march 2012, it is a jock nothingyet
I would advise doing what I did when GT were stalling on sending my CC after I finished:- keep mailing your supervisor and the closure team and ask them specifically what status your closure is at as you want the information to collate a complaint to their governing body. If your agreement, like mine and most others, is the same, and they keep it open longer than 72 months they have effectively broken the terms of contract. I stated all this to my supervisor/closure team and within 4 weeks, hey presto, I had my CC [:D]
Keep at them and keep any correspondence in case you decide to take the matter further with a complaint.
All the best.
Thought I would share our experience. IVA was agreed October 2006 with Unity (first payment made September 2006) Tenon took over a few years later.
Told that final payment was November 2011 and we would receive completion in 12 weeks.
In January 2012 we were asked to provide confirmation of 2 offers of re-mortgage. (We were Obviously refused).
March 2012 I was told that we had only made 59 payments (Husbands redundancy had given us a payment break of 3 months and they had miscalculated). Monthly payments were not reduced, even though my husband got another job that paid half of what he was earning when the IVA was taken out.
60th payment was made.
June 2012 letter received about VAT Ruling. Tenon proposed not to delay closure and we text details as requested on letter.
Tenon arranged variation meeting which was accepted by creditors.
Case took over by Grant Thornton a few months later.
Another variation meeting was set for December 2012. (Previous meeting not completed fully... Surprise! surprise!).
This was accepted with PPI payments. Told it would take 6 months to close account.
Now June 2013 (6 months later) and still no sign of a completion certificate.
7 years next month since first payment made. We cannot begin to tell you how much stress this has caused us. If we could afford a solicitor we would get advice on the total mismanagement and incompetence of all 3 companies involved with our case.
We feel the contract we originally signed has been pulled out of all proportion regarding time scales and contractual obligations. I'm sure we would have a pretty good case.
If we knew an IVA would have been this stressful back in 2006, we would have gone bankrupt instead, a few months stress is better than a few years.
