So I made my last payment into my IVA at the end of March this year and am STILL awaiting my completion certificate. I've been told on 4 seperate occasions that my case is with the closures team but still haven't had anything through. What is the process to estalate this, as the fob off I keep getting is "we don't have a direct line to the closures team, they will call you within 10 working days if you want to speak to them", which they never do. Surey they can't just be allowed to get away with this without an consequences. They're playing with peoples lives here.

Who are gateways? I have been looking for a link or email address for some government body who you can escalate to, but all I ever see is links for articles that I don't have time to trawl through. I'll try emailing GT direct, but not holding out much hope

Why do the people who work in the closures team at Grant Thornton not have telephones?

My question exactly Melanie. I'm guessing that they do, but just don't speak directly to clients because they know all they will get all day is complaints. I emailed their customer services email address and got back no fewer than 5 out of office emails, some with "back to work" dates dating back to september. Not holding out much hope for a swift reply

Is Grant Thorntons choice not to allow telephone contact from Customer Services to Closures rather than lack of telephones part of GT's customer serivce package to Clients.....
Time to end of IVA 0 days
Time to end of GT dealing with it...CC recieved after a battle royal !!

Hi,

Why dont you try writing to your IP directly? Ive looked up his details below...Mark Allen i think. If you dont get a reply then i would launch an official compliant with the insolvency service

The original "case manager" was a guy called Gareth, who I've never personally spoken to over the 5 years of my IVA. The only contact I've ever had has been with the generic customer services team who clearly spend their days reading off a script and can't actually give answers. It's a total disgrace

I don't understand why, if there are a large amount of complaints, why one or two staff members are not tasked to provide a dedicated closures helpline. From what I am reading, it is not necessarily the fact that cases cannot be closed which is the real issue, but the lack of communication and the frustration about being unable to contact anyone.

Regulatory complaints about IPs are, in my limited experience, horrible, stressful and worrying, and why any IP or firm would want to risk these coming en masse is completely beyond me.

The only logical conclusion is they think they too big and can get away with it.
And so far that seems to be working for them.

My conspiracy theory is that they are waiting for the company they have instructed to reclaim my PPI (which then goes back to the creditors, so presumably a large chunk also going to GT and this PPI company)to make sure they have claimed as much as they can before closing the book. Maybe I'm being cynical, but that certainly seems to add up. GT were very heavy handed when they sent me a letter telling me I HAD TO instruct this PPI company to deal with my claims and all proceeds HAD TO go towards paying back my creditors otherwise there was a significant chance that my completion date would be delayed. I think they prey on people's emotions, although somebody on here could probably confirm if indeed that is the way it works or not
