We entered an IVA 3 months ago with Grant Thornton, however we are finding it very difficult to contact them with queries we have. We have been writing, emailing and calling them for approx 6 weeks but nobody replies or returns our calls. What else can we do? Would we be able to change companys or are we legally tied to Grant Thornton for the next 5 years. We are getting no help/advice whatsoever. We are getting more stressed than before we entered the IVA.

Hi Nicola - it is near impossible to change IVA companies I'm afraid. I would send another letter by recorded delivery so you can prove when received, or send emails with read receipts. Give them a time limit to reply to you.

If you still do not receive a reply then I would go through their complaints procedure.

Please do ask on here with any specific queries, we will try and help if we can!

GT had a great reputation, but have recently acquired a lot of cases from Blair Endersby, and are now snowed under. Fingers crossed its just a short term blip and their usual service will resume shortly...
Otherwise known as "Tom". [:)] IVA proposal currently being drafted by Liberta Financial.

I hope they do Andy - they are getting a lot of negative press on here lately.

Definitely,

at least they are prepared to put a rep on here and try to address the issues, many others would never have done that.

It's to be seen how quickly they turn it around but i definitely welcome them to the forum and think that they will be a great addition.

Its poor that they have clearly taken on too much work, given the number of posters who cannot get in contact with them.

Or is there another reason? I also welcome more expert opinion on here, where hopefully transparency will allow posters to feel comfortable with using their services.

The number of posters on here complaining about Grant Thornton is an extremely small percentage of their overall portfolio and not in context with their overall service. No complaints are good ones at the end of the day for any IP - and yes they do happen in my firm too - so can we please let them come on here, and speak for themselves where they feel it is necessary to do so.

Its down to people only coming on here when a problem arises. If things are going well they wont google and find us!!! And often by the time they find us they have agreed to use a company without our guidance.

Its not the numbers of complaints that is alarming Mel,its the fact that people appear to be finding it impossible to make contact with someone who is gaining financially by providing a service.
