Hi
I received this email from customer services in response to my previous email
I believe there may have been a breakdown in communication between yourself and my colleague inCustomer Services.
While you have the option to opt out of contact from EIC, this does not change your obligation to make a claim and potentially introduce monies to your IVA.
The terms and conditions of an IVA dictate you must make every effort to maximise the return to your creditors. At present creditors are maintaining a lot of focus on mis-sold PPI, unfair bank charges etc. Any award from these areas are considered an Asset of an IVA.
At present EIC contact details are not available to Customer Services, as we are able to provide all the necessary information, and I apologise you feel this was not the experience you had. In future once a decision has been made by each client, EIC will be provided a list of consents, and will begin all the necessary work. There should not be an instance where you would need or be required to discuss the matter with EIC until such a time as the result of the claim is known.

Many thanks for your email - As I said in my previous email in no way was ** uncooperative she gave me the information I asked for to the best of her ability. I was simply pointing out that perhaps customer service advisers could be given the information that is freely available on EIC website.
My concerns are two fold - One if we agree, which given the constraints of the IVA we don't have a choice really would this hold up the closure of the IVA? As looking on the IVA Forum it would appear to be causing some concern around delay of closure. This is why I was asking about a time scale. As GT do seem to be getting some quite heavy criticism about the length of time that closure is taking on the forum.
Our second question is around the closure period we understood that this was three months as per the Chairman's report but ** said it will be 6 months - could you clarify this for us?
Until we entered into the process with yourselves of the IVA and were instructed not to make further payments we had always paid the credit cards on time so there will be very little revenue to add back into the pot, therefore you may pass on our details to EIC but we sincerely hope that this will not delay our closure.
And got the following response:-
The Final contribution to your IVA is due March 2013 therefore initiating a claim via EIC at this stage should not have any impact on the closure of your arrangement. The main impact will be clients who have already entered the closure process, although this will depend on whether they believe a claim exists.
The current closure timescale currently stands at 6 months as advised by **. Unfortunately Grant Thornton cannot comment on the process or timescale of other IP firms.
The Chairman's report refers to the period following the final contribution when a dividend is expected, however is not specific to the final report. This is also dependant on additional contributions falling outside the 60 month period. Could one of the experts please explain this to me - We make our last payment on 2nd September 2012?
I have made a note on your file to confirm you are happy for EIC to investigate any unfair charges, and the there will be no inconvenience to you during this process.

Many thanks Melanie - But we have no outstanding contributions every payment has been paid on time - When GT emailed me they said 6 months closure period was the norm for GT.
Kind regards

Based on recent contributions it sounds like 6 months would be considered a short closure period for a GT case.
