Hi Debbie .... sorry to hear about your friend. I'm not sure if it will help but you could try this number 0808 808 3444. The main aims of the service are to provide the families and friends of anyone sentenced to imprisonment or remanded in custody with:
Advice and information
Support and assistance at court
Support and friendship

It can't hurt to ring them xx
When I was young I was called a rugged individualist
When I was in my fifties I was considered eccentric
Here I am doing and saying the same things I did back then and now I'm labelled senile

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Debbie. I can't offer any advice as although I used to know a bit about the criminal justice system it was a long time ago.

Whatever happens he's lucky to have a friend like you, and I hope that Bubs is ok x

hi debbie

i am so sorry to hear about your friend, it must be such a worry for you!

i work in the legal system so do know a bit about what goes on, if your friend has been remanded into custody, while reports are being done to build up the case he should have to appear periodically at court, usually in person, occasionally via video link from the prison to the court. hopefully when he gets your letter he will get in touch with you and let you know whats happening and perhaps you could get a visitors pass to see him! i am sure he has a solicitor but if he hasnt advise him to get one, even if it is only the duty solicitor at court who can speak for him!

like marie says hopefully the poor dog has been taken care of!

thinking of you and your friend, and the dog, hope things get sorted

love barb x

Thanks everyone for the continuing kind thoughts ... Ray for the number and Barb for the info.

Still no news, but I'm hoping my friend might have got my letter today. Apparently my friend left Bubs with the neighbout who looks after her when he is at work so she is safely with the neighbour at the moment but it can only be a temporary thing. But at least I know that she is ok ... she is such a stupid looking dog but she is my friend's life ... so i would have hated to have anything awful happen to her.

Hopefully I'll hear some more soon.

Debbie

Debbie, I really feel for you. I do hope everything gets sorted out and that your friend gets your letter. Hope Bubs is ok as well. Is there no one who can have him on a more permanent basis?

Bubs is a her ... and it will probably end up being me [;)] It's the least I can do for my friend really ... [:)]

Aren't you all soooo lovely. I have been in Oxford today for an Open University exam revision day and it was so nice to come home to 'friends'

Sorry, automatically refer to dogs as 'him' even though I have one of each myself.

Your friend is lucky to have you, and I hope everything turns out ok. Glad Bubs will be looked after too!

Good to hear Bubs is ok [:)] Your friend is very lucky to have you in his corner. I'm sure he'll be in touch soon. This must be incredibly hard for him but knowing you are there and standing by him must be a comfort.

Sorry to hear your bad news Debbie.

The world is such an unjust place. A friend of mine has just been charged with assaulting a police officer after protecting a girl from her violent boyfriend. My friend got 40 marks from the officers, one officer got 1 bruise and is claiming compensation for injury and mental trauma ..pleeese!!
He had no previous and has never hurt a fly...

Evidently pet shelters are bursting at the seams as people cant afford to feed their pets due to the credit crunch..Im getting a kitten next week just to do my bit![:o)]

A few weeks ago I had a visit from two detectives re my friend ... they really were TRYING to make me say detrimental things about him. The law is VERY powerful.

I read today that Surrey Police are going to ignore the Whitehall targets and get back to 'common sense policing' - about time as far as I'm concerned.
