I had to let my lovely Yorkshire Terrier go last year ... he was a bit of a larger specimen (I think that I might actually have 'done' and he was a cross with something). Jack was the nicest. loveliest dog I had even come across ... he made you happy just looking at him. But he developed a taste for the big wide world and I came home three times to find that he had escaped (I still don't know how he did it) and had been collected by the dog warden. Luckily I knew the manager of the local RSPCA quite well professionally, we had worked together on the funeral services of a few of his (elderly) volunteers!

It was probably the biggest sacrifice I have ever had to make, to ask Mike (the RSPCA Manager) to rehome him to somewhere where they would have more time for him ... I was a blubbering wreck ... Mike assured me that Jack, indeed, would find a very loving home, leaving me to be able to carry on fulfilling my vocation by working with bereaved families, sometimes for up to fourteen hours a day.

Thanks for taking my mind off things, I still have no news about my friend but I am hoping that the new working week will bring some further information to light.
