Got a card from Halifax today telling me that one of their representatives would be calling me at home on 16th April and to let them know if it wasn't convenient.
So I rang their number as I thought I'd let them know that my creditors meeting is scheduled for 20th April and there's not much more I can do but you have to put your 16 digit account number into the phone. I didn't have it with me (I've destroyed all my nasty credit cards like a good girl!) and there is no way of getting through to them without your account number! How stupid is that??
No option at all for "press x if you don't have your account details to hand" just the same annoying voice telling me they don't recognise what I entered and it's the 16 digit number etc etc. They don't recognise it cos I didn't press anything!!!.

Sorry to rant but the stupidity of some of these companies leaves me speechless - or not obviously!.

They may not even call you. They used to do that with me, and nothing ever happened.

It is annoying when you want to get through and speak to someone but you don't have an option for it. If ever I get that then my language is usually a bit choice!

They will have received copies of your IVA proposals by now Pap, so I am sure you will not have the pleasure of meeting with one of their collectors on 16th! If so, just show them copies of the proposals or get them to call your IP's office for further confirmation.

did you know that most IVR systems (phone systems) will automatically connect you to a person if you do not enter any details or push any buttons as it doesnt recognise what you want. Alternately use the 'say no to 0870' website to search for a freephone number!

I must admit that I've never found that I've been connected to anyone! It will just keep asking me for the information and then eventually cut me off.

The Saynoto0870 is a good site, I use it all the time

There should be a fundamental overhaul of the procedures for contacting debtors by the bank industry.

It is about to start with an announcement on Monday of a 30 day "cooling off" period which I will post details about later.

They will have to - mbut only will relate to new debt matters not old ones that have entered into arrangements.

That does sound interseting David.
I intend to write (again) to Halifax and spell out where we're at in this process and let them know it's their time they keep wasting. If they still wish to call, that's up to them. But I say that now, I know if anyone ever turns up I'll be sick with worry and completely turn to jelly!

They're unlikely to call Pap, they never did with me and I had a couple of those cards.

If they do call, you don't have to speak to them, or even answer the door if you don't want to.
