Just wandering if anyone has got one of the new clearcash cards yet and how they are finding it. On the face of it, it appears a very good product and I was wandering how people are finding it.

This one has similar properties to a normal bank account. You can have your salary paid in, pay standing orders or make payments from it and use it as a prepaid card.
The downside is that it does cost you £9.99 a month.

You might like to get the Virgin Pre Paid card - choose no fee or £5 per month depending upon how you use it. They are quick, on-line and can't say do anything really worng!
Having just checked there web site.
This is the same as Card One Banking its also backed by the Newcastle Building society.
Only difference Cardone is £12.50 and Clear is under a tenner.
With regard to Card One just been to america for a week worked perfectly
You could try the Payplan card as well, similar to a bank account but there is a cap on how much you can pay in per month.
I use the Paypal prepaid card - nothing per month and only costs me £1 to top up at a post office and the balance is available the next day.

Ive got the Clearcash card and its great, it has a simplistic but robust BudgetMaster tool that uses the government guidelines on expenses i.e rent etc but also allows you to adjust the fields to it.
Money that is transfered to the card is available next day from a bank, instead of 4 days with the other card providers mentioned.
It provides a cashback site giving you money back and their are a host of places available from PhD fitness for sports to Kwikfit for insurance.
Its a MasterCard for electronic use, so would assume this is a mastercard debit card. It allows standing orders from it not Direct Debits and provides instant online tracking.
I believe that the clearcash company is developing the card to evolve even further, to incorporate payment protection, it has a host of benefits from any other prepaid card and would be a useful addition as an extra card or as a money account if you cant get a traditional bank account.
Another feature I forgot to mention was the livechat that you can have with the team including the COO, And if you transfer money to it and forget to put your reference all you have to do is ring clearcash and give the details and they will be able to trace.
A great card with a host of benefits, Im planning on using it for my expenses money where Maestro isnt accepted.
This is a product that is not only going to shape the future of the prepaid market and network but its going to Smash it and make it evolve more for the client than the business.
I would defo recommend.

My only problem with those sort of cards is the monthly fee.
I have to say as well that when I have put money onto my Paypal card, it has been there next day as well.
There is another one coming out next month from Secure Trust and I believe that has more advantages than the Clearcash card.

I dont agree Jan, Secure Trust which took over Evolution Card, and made it Evolution Banking is £12.50 a month yes it offers Direct Debits and Standing Orders, and your own Account Number, however it doesnt allow you to manage your money online, make billpayments online or make/ammend standing orders online these have to be done over the phone, it doesnt have live chat, SMS abilities or cashback and doesnt have a debt manager keeping an eye on your account like Clearcash do.
I think Secure trust is just another Thinkbanking type of account whereby Clearcash has a lot more to offer and for a lower monthly cost
I think you and I will have to continue to agree to disagree on this subject Stu![:D]
I'll stick with Nationwide and Payplan for now!

I am trying to decide if I will ever need a pre paid card. Since abandoning the credit cards I have been left with our new Visa Electron cash card. This was the default card provided with the Co-op cash minder account.
So far it has covered everything I need from cash at the ATM, to paying for stuff in shops and online. When would everyone recommend using a pre paid card instead?
Some of us don't have any other sort of card Andy!
I only have a cashpoint card which doesn't help when I want to buy anything online.
I think prepaid cards are great.
