We are two months into an IVA, and today had a letter from a firm called Xit Debt lt., who hail from Kinver in the West Midlands.

'Another unwanted letter?

Please read on, just give this three minutes, and then feel free to throw it away,at least you will know.....

Public Records show you are in an IVA agreement, what does this mean to you? Was everything explained or were you just given a large court agreement and asked to sign?

We at Xit debt are regularly involved with peoples finances and are in a position to help; we do not refinance your debt, extend the period or sell you anything. So what will we do?

We will check your IVA with you FREE of charge, and then advise you if you can apply for a reduction of payment or a change in term, or even let us remove the debt in total.

Do we charge fees? Yes we do but this will not affect you as the fees come from the monies you are paying to your IVA.

So what do you have to do? Just call us on the number below and speak to a real person and we will make an appointment to meet at time and place to suit you. Yes a personal appointment anywhere without a charge.

What do you have to lose? The answer is how long does your IVA have left to run and what do you pay each month.........48 months @£250=£12,000 can you afford to give this away'.

Now it doesn't seem to me that they are saying I have been mis sold an IVA, but how on earth can they do anything about it?

Hi
Yet another company jumping on the bankruptcy assist bandwagon [or an existing company with a face change]
They can offer no magic answer to you, only bankruptcy or a remortgage. Both of these you can arrange yourself if you want to.
Pass it onto your IP

Thanks both, that's what I thought, but I'd not heard them mentioned before.

They do have a website but it tells you even less.

I'll stick with my IVA at the moment and the letter will be winging its way to my IP tomorrow.

Hi Andy,

Yes, it's exactly the same letter that we have had. Interesting reading. Should have known really after reading everthing on here, but it just seemed to be that little bit different as they were not telling me I had been mis-sold.

Hubbie now says he's not posting it off, it's gone off to the shredder!

Hi

I think I noted before that Stuart, Jo & Sally are all ex debt Dr and the main source of work comes from letters to people in IVA's.

Some people in IVA's need some help but generally from the feedback on this site these letters frighten most people to death if they talk about mis selling of an IVA.

Lots of people in IVA's don't fully understand what they are or how they affect you.

This goes back to my old chestnut of GET THE RIGHT IP 1st TIME.

You don't really have a second chance at getting it right so you absolutley need the right relationship that will serve you well for 5 years.

Melanie & Ian have great reviews on this site - Why go anywhere else!!!

Oh my God not another one! I'm getting rather annoyed at those vultures. If they send me anything I'll really lay into them. I don't want them writing to my address in see through envelopes where they could be opened by others in the house who have no idea of my iva.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

don't worry they use hand addressed envelopes to make you think it is a personal letter - so you open it.

No risk of a see through letter there

No, definitely not see through - very ornate writing actually! It was addressed to both of us. Was quite familiar though - didn't say either Mr or Mrs, it was addressed by christian names

Hi
Whilst I accept that there is a limited market for bona fida bankruptcy assist companies my concern is that the vast majority are both
unregulated and unqualified. They are quite simply dangerous
This is my personal opinion.

I agree Andy. Don't get me wrong, there is a place for someone like Paul from Reviva, who from what I've read here does an excellent job. What I really can't understand is companies like UK Bankruptcy charging £1500+ to fill in forms!

I'm fed up of these companies trying to make money on the back of suggesting that my profession is not doing it's job properly. There may be a few well minded people in the bankruptcy assist industry, but:-

a) There is no excuse for someone not understanding their IVA or the implications of the arrangement. IVAs are not rocket science, they are a simple legal contract which all IPs will ask their clients to read thoroughly.

b) As Paul mentioned - find an IP firm who will give you a personal service and treat you as an individual rather than a reference number.

In the majority of all cases, your IP is the only professional that you need to consult if you have queries about your arrangement, and for these firms to wheel people in on the basis that they can get payments reduced is ludicrous.
